Assalamu alaikum respected parents, I pray you and your families are enjoying a relaxing Thanksgiving break with family and friends in sha Allah. There is NO SUNDAY SCHOOL this week on December 1st. Last Sunday, students in older grades enjoyed outdoor recess in the front of the building as we set up some games and activities in designated areas. Moving forward, we will continue with this alternate recess set up due to construction, so all students can still enjoy outdoor time (if weather permits). Children are expected to go outside for recess if the temperatures are 10 degrees F or above. Please send children with the appropriate clothing for the weather.
Please be aware that our Annual Qirat Competition will be held on December 15th in sha Allah during school hours. This is a student only event such that students will be pulled from their classroom to be tested by our judges and we will announce the results of the Qirat competition to parents in our weekly Newsletter. Please see assigned Surahs for each grade level in the "News You Can Use" section of this Newsletter.
MORNING ASSEMBLY: Our morning Assembly on 11/24 was led by Sr Asil Elkhatib, a former 8th grade teacher and current substitute teacher and parent volunteer. She shared a story from the Quran (from Surah Al- Qalam), of "the Owners of the Garden" to discuss the importance of being thankful to Allah and the the best way to thank Allah (swt) for the Source of All Goodness, is to say always Alhamdulillah & help others in need generously, out of what Allah has given you for these blessings. Opportunities for Parent Involvement
Parent involvement is essential for students development, leads to increased student achievement and success and offers many benefits. We highly encourage our parents to get involved at IFN Sunday School which is why we are offering several opportunities for parent involvement this year. These include the following:
1. Join Parent Support Group (PSG) by completing this form
2. Become a Teaching Assistant
3. Become a Lunch/Recess Supervisor
4. Lead a Morning Assembly at Sunday School
5. Be a Substitute Teacher or TA
