EMERGENCY DRILLS: We have been focusing on student safety and emergency procedures. We discussed and practiced the procedures for each drill. We have had a police officer on campus each day from 7:00-3:00. They compliment the measures we take for school safety.

CRISIS PLANS: Our teachers review our crisis plan each August and throughout the year. We will continue to use the Rave Mobile Safety System. This system offers a Rave Panic Button to immediately alert all First Responders of a need at our school. In the event we must evacuate campus, we will proceed to Fontainebleau Country Club, the Gray Insurance Company parking lot or the Rouses's parking lot for student pick up. Our School Messenger emergency call system will be activated for details.

• Have your name sign displayed (parish side on driver side/cafeteria side on passenger side) to be easily seen by school personnel

• Please refrain from use of cell phones in carline

• Please keep with the flow of traffic

• Follow staff signals. Pull up and stop accordingly

• Only allow your students to exit the vehicle when a staff person opens the door.

MQPCS water bottles are now available in the office for $5. If you would like to order extras or a replacement there is a limited amount available. Students may use the MQPCS water bottle or any clear (non tinted), spill proof, appropriately sized water bottle during school hours.

We are grateful to work with you to ensure the safety of each of God’s children here at MQPCS. Yesterday we sent home the School Safety Fee invoice of $365. This per-family fee is estimated to cover the salary and benefits of a school resource officer for 10 months. It will also cover the cost of the detail officers in the meantime. Please remit payment as soon as possible.

STUDENT PICTURE DAY - Barberito will be here this Friday, August 25, to take individual student pictures. All students must wear their complete school uniform. Packets were sent home with the students last week. This year you will be able to order picture packages online. Click here to order online and follow the steps below:

SAFE ENVIRONMENT – Every year all parents have to complete the required documents for their Safe Environment certification in order to be compliant. This training consists of the training video and all required forms to be filled out. Just filling in the forms will not show you as compliant you must complete the training completely first or it will still show you as non compliant. Your certification must be updated every three years. All initial and renewal training will be completed though the program Virtus. The link is www.virtusonline.org. STUDENT PHOTO PRIVACY: All photos of students that are run in any media format must be sent to the school office for approval before publishing. Please send to Amber Broussard at abroussard@maryqueenofpeace.org along with a caption and names of students in the photo.

2nd GRADE PARENTS - The 2nd grade students will go through a very important sacrament this year. Please click here to register your student with the Parish Faith Formation office. Also see the Prep Packet that is attached.

SCHOOL LUNCH - If you have not sent in money for your child’s lunch account, please do so promptly. If there are no funds in their account, students will be allowed to call home for a lunch. You may check your child’s account balance daily by accessing the cafeteria site online at www.schoolcafe.org. The website that handles online payments for School Food Service is www.myschoolbucks.com.

SNFS NEWSLETTER - The Archdiocese School Food and Nutrition Services of New Orleans would like to keep all parents aprised of the many ways they want to ensure that all of our students have a healthy plate. Please see the attached newsletter.

2022-2023 YEARBOOKS - Yearbooks for the 2022-2023 school year are in. If you would like a yearbook, and did not purchase one last year you can send payment to the front office and the yearbook will be delivered to the students classroom. The cost is $60.00 and checks should be made payable to MQPCS. There are a limited number of extra Yearbooks so they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.

BACK TO SCHOOL BINGO - Back to School Bingo was a huge success! Big THANK YOU to Committee Chair Kelli Bucksbarg, our awesome Dad's club and all our volunteers. We couldn’t have done it without you! Thanks, too, to all the families able to attend. It was lots of fun.

Co-Op Family Dues help fund student events, school programs, family events, and teacher classroom supplies.

CO-OP MEETING: You are all invited to attend our first Co-Op meeting Tuesday, August 29th at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will be held in the Parish Center. Meet our new Co-Op Board and hear about the great things we have planned for our students this school year.

COUGAR'S DEN: All orders placed through Cougar's Den are filled and delivered to your student at school. If there is an exchange request, bring in the unused, unwashed items with the original pink slip to the office with the exchange request written on it. ALTAR SERVER TRAINING - Students in grades 5th-12th, if you are interested in becoming an altar server there are some upcoming trainings you can attend.
