On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. High School 9th Grade scholars Giovanni Brown, Daelyn House, and Jaylen Smith, participated in the Arby's National Case Challenge Competition, hosted by The Arby's Corporation and 3DE. They were selected to compete against 3 other teams representing their high schools from across the United States. The 3DE@King High School scholars were the only team to represent the DeKalb County School District and the state of Georgia. The Arby's Case Challenge asked students:
"What can Arby's to do attract teens between the ages of 13 - 17?" This group of young men collaborated to develop an idea for Arby's to host monthly gaming tournaments in their restaurants across the nation, to attract the Generation Z gaming population. The King High School local winners for this challenge were 9th grade scholars Rashaan McClinton,
Dontavious Collins, Deja Scandrett, Eboni Wilkerson, and Naveah Polin. Their solution included an Arby's brand and menu overhaul to appeal to the 13–17-year-old population. Our scholars have done amazing work engaging with the business partnerships through the 3DE program, under the leadership of Mrs. Damienne Denham Shabazz, Administrator of the 3DE@King HS SLC, and Ms. Kemisha Everett, 3DE School Director.
