Building a Positive Learning Environment: Continuing the P.B.I.S. Program!
To create a positive learning environment for our students at Escalona, we're excited to announce the continuation of our Positive Behavior Intervention program (P.B.I.S.). This program teaches our students important core behavioral expectations: Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful. These values can be applied in any setting and will benefit your child both at school and at home. We encourage you to discuss these expectations with your child and acknowledge when they display positive behavior at home. We will hold a student assembly on September 27th to relaunch the program for this school year. It's crucial for your child to understand these expectations as they contribute to a positive and safe school environment. Our staff will reward students with Eagle bucks when they're "caught" exhibiting positive behavior, which can be redeemed at our Eagle store. Our amazing P.T.A. supports the store, which will open on October 4th and every other week after. This store promotes the value of saving and delayed gratification for students. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these values with your child.

Join Our ELAC Committee and Impact the Education of English Learners!
Calling all parents of English Learner students! We are excited to share that a parent has expressed interest in joining our English Language Acquisition Committee (ELAC). We value your input and would love to have more parents join us in positively impacting our school community. If you are also interested in this opportunity, please contact Dr. Okpara. If you know of other parents who want to get involved, please encourage them to reach out. Your support plays a vital role in the success of our English Learner students. Thank you!
Library Reopening on Monday, September 16!
Attention all families! We are happy to announce that our library will reopen on Monday, September 16. If you have filled out permission slips for your child, please remember to send them back to their teacher. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you and your child in the library soon.
Free After-School Support Now Available!
Are you tired of struggling to find affordable afterschool support for your child? Look no further! We have an amazing opportunity for you and your child to receive free afterschool support, thanks to our partnership with the Los Angeles Sheriff's department, Norwalk Youth Activities Department. But here's the catch: spots are limited, so you'll need to act fast and contact us to get on the list for transportation to the Norwalk offices. Don't worry; the city even provides transportation for up to 14 students from Escalona. But if you don't make the list, no worries! You can still join the afterschool program; just coordinate your transportation to the location. Don't miss out on this chance to give your child the support they need. Representatives will be available after school on Wednesday, September 25th, to answer your questions!
Lost & Found Items
Our lost and found is overflowing with items looking for their owners. Please remind your child to check the lost and found cart at the front gate of the school. Making sure their belongings are labeled will also help us reunite lost items with their rightful owners. Thank you for your cooperation!
