The Wolfpack Edge

Greetings
Hope you're having a great week! Thankfully, we've had mild temperatures -- what a gift! I saw a meme the other day that said, "It literally feels like January 74th." Made me laugh! It does feel like a long month, doesn't it? As we enter into the month of February, most of us may be feeling weary and restless. We may even have less patience with each other....
James Clear, author/speaker, suggests trying to keep a mindset of "baseline optimism." Here's what he means:
- When starting the day: It's going to be a good day.
- When meeting someone new: I'm going to like them.
- When trying something challenging: It's going to work out.
Each week during our time of worship, your students are reminded of these comforting words from Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” As a parent, I want you to know that these truths are spoken over your student(s), offering them encouragement and peace.

Head Administrator
The Wolfpack Edge serves as a weekly communication to our parent community. We'll send it to your inbox each Thursday during the school year. If you would like the newsletter to be sent to an additional account, let us know! Grandparents & supporters may request to receive the communication, too. Please email Mrs. Kathy Mouw with contact information: Kathy.Mouw@westernchristianhs.com
Chapel this week will encourage us to guard our hearts; both the message and the follow-up time with our Faithpacks will encourage us to consider exactly how we do that. Tony Hoops from NWC is our speaker, and the worship team from Western will call us to worship and lead us musically. Mr. Hoop’s scripture is Proverbs 4:1-5, 20-27; that could be a great passage to read as a family.
Please consider joining us for chapel by subscribing to Western Christian High School Livestreams on YouTube.

STEWARDSHIP & SUSTAINABILITY
As we begin a new calendar year, Western Christian’s Board of Trustees and Leadership are thoughtfully and strategically planning for the future, keeping our mission at the heart of every decision. Our goal is to ensure that Christ-centered education remains vibrant, accessible, and sustainable for generations to come. We kindly invite you to take a moment to read this important message, titled "Stewardship and Sustainability."

NCC SCRUBS CAMP
NCC is offering a Scrubs Camp on NCC’s campus on Tuesday, March 11 from 9 AM to 2 PM. Registration is from 8:15–8:45 AM. This event is for all students currently enrolled in 7-12 grade interested in a healthcare career. We do have limited space so please have your students sign up as soon as possible. We will need students to fill out the online registration form as the workshop is hands-on and there is a liability waiver for parents to sign for them to be able to participate in all of the activities. Visit here to register. Visit here to learn more.
PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
This week was our 4th round of Personal Professional Learning. The goal of this time is for teachers to identify areas in which they want to grow or develop their teaching practices. There are a wide variety of options that align with our Portrait of a Graduate, WC teaching standards, and Writing Across the Curriculum. Teachers chose an activity and worked on it for the professional learning hour. We are excited to see what kind of innovative ideas will continue to come from giving teachers space to create!
STUDENT SUPPORT
At Western Christian High School, we recognize our students’ unique creation and the variety of God-given talents and skills. We know that each student presents a unique combination of such strengths. We believe it is our responsibility to meet students where they are at in their journey and equip them with the tools and resources required to exceed their potential. To meet the need, we have a Student Support Team with a variety of resources. Go here to learn more about who to connect with!
