Competency-Based Learning at MRH: Find Out More This Wednesday
No registration necessary; all are welcome, PK-12
Are you ready to open the door to the potential of personalized learning? We invite you to join us for a community forum on Personalized Competency-Based Learning (PCBL).
Imagine a world where students learn at their own pace, following their passions and interests. PCBL is a groundbreaking approach that empowers students to take ownership of their education, fostering creativity, critical thinking and lifelong learning.
Date: November 6, 2024
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: MRH Central Office, 2531 S. Big Bend Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63143
Together, let's explore how PCBL can benefit our community's students by:
Empowering student choice: Students learn in ways that suit their interests and learning needs.
Fostering collaboration: Educators work with students and community partners to create unique learning plans.
Promoting flexibility: Students can learn at their own pace and through a variety of pathways.
Enhancing meaningful assessment: Assessment is a positive experience that provides students with timely, relevant evidence.
Embracing equity: Schools and education systems embed equity strategies into their culture and pedagogy.
Join us for an evening of discussion, exploration, and inspiration. Let's open the door to a brighter future for our students!
VIDEO: District Finances Virtual Meeting
If you were unable to join last week's virtual Community Conversations with MRH Administrators, tap the link below. The roughly 70-minute session centered on the basics of school finance and bonding, the status of construction and renovation under Proposition E, as well as future needs.
Community Conversations Series Continues November 19, In-person
Our next topic: Supporting and Addressing Student Mental Health Needs. We'll explore how the District supports students’ emotional well-being through counseling services, social-emotional learning (SEL), and mental health initiatives, with tips for parents to reduce anxiety at home. Our special guest will be MRH Student Services Director Vince Estrada.
HAPPENING SATURDAY: Districtwide Open House
No appointments necessary; our teachers and administrators are eager to show you around and answer your questions. In addition to our school buildings, we will cut the ribbon on our new Maria J. Langston Administrative Center at 2531 S. Big Bend Boulevard. We hope to you see on November 9!

Celebrating Parents as Teachers at MRH
- Share your story. Post a video or share a photo and caption on social media about why Parents as Teachers is important to you and your family. Use the hashtag #NationalParentsasTeachersDay.

The Blue Devil Spotlight
Maplewood Kiwanis: Serving the Children of Our Community
This week, the Blue Devil shines his light on an organization which has steadfastly served the MRH community for 78 years: the Kiwanis Club of Maplewood. Kiwanians are part of a global network of clubs which partner with each other and with organizations such as MRH whose missions align. A few of the Club's projects include:
- Annual golf tournament with proceeds used for MRH scholarships
- Annual Pancake Breakfast (happening this weekend) to benefit MRH Seed to Table, MRH Key club and MRH Boys Basketball
- Kiwanis/Kellogg Park – a gift from Kiwanis to the City of Maplewood
The Maplewood chapter of Kiwanis is a rapidly growing and eclectic group of individuals, including members of local businesses, non-profits, municipal government, retirees and MRH alums. If you'd like to consider joining an organization dedicated to uplifting the youth of our community, check out the Kiwanis Club of Maplewood's Facebook page.
