The Eagle Eye Edition

Hello New and Returning Mountain View Families,

It is my sincere honor and privilege to welcome you to Mountain View Elementary School (MVS), home of the Eagles! We are so excited to start the 2024-2025 school year!

Our staff has been hard at work preparing to greet families for Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, with classroom presentations beginning at 6:00 pm. Please see the flyers below for additional information.

In preparation for the highly anticipated first day of school on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, here are a few reminders:

• School begins at 8:00 am; supervision begins daily at 7:45 am; please plan accordingly to be on time.
• The first day (and week) of school is ALWAYS incredibly busy with traffic; please be KIND to one another.
• For safety reasons, our campus is a closed campus once students are here. This means all students will say goodbye to their families at the gate and MVS staff will help students find their way to line up, and then to class. No parents, guardians, or families will be allowed to enter campus with their child through the gate.
• When walking your students to campus, please use designated sidewalks and crosswalks.
• When dropping your students off on campus, please pull ALL the WAY FORWARD along the curb; allow your student(s) to exit the vehicle on CURBSIDE ONLY.
• After your student has exited your car, please pull safely into the second lane to exit campus so more families can pull forward to drop off their child.
• The first day of school is a modified day, with dismissal promptly at 1:30 pm. Again, please follow the same safety guidelines from arrival (listed above) during dismissal.

We pride ourselves in engaging with our community and having a strong home/school partnership to promote a positive, successful learning experience for each and every student. I encourage you to be involved - volunteer with the school, in a classroom, or with PTO. For information on volunteering and the August PTO meeting, please see below.

Finally, please familiarize yourself with all that MVS has to offer by exploring our website and I ask that you review our handbook, along with your child, so that you are in the know!

Please join us for a very informative community night. There will be information, free popcorn (courtesy of PTO), MVS swag, raffles and more. We are excited to see all of our Eagle families!

For the security of our students and staff, we are a closed campus during school hours. Please plan to say goodbye to your student at the gate (or before). No parents, guardians, family members, or caregivers will be able to enter campus through the gate. All visitors and volunteers MUST check-in through the office. Raptor Technologies is used for visitors and volunteers are welcome on campus once they have completed the application, fingerprinting, TB test, and volunteer training.

We are thrilled to invite all our wonderful families to get involved and volunteer at our school! Volunteering is a fantastic way to connect with the school community, support your child’s education, and make a positive impact in countless ways. Whether you have a little time or a lot, there are many opportunities to contribute, from helping in the classroom, serving as a room parent, being part of PTO and school events to chaperoning field trips. Your involvement not only enriches the school experience for all our students but also strengthens the bond between home and school.

If you are a returning volunteer, please remember to complete your mandated trainings PRIOR to volunteering this year. New volunteers are warmly welcomed! Simply pick up a volunteer packet from the office to start the process of getting cleared. We look forward to seeing you and working together to make this school year amazing!

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based framework designed to integrate and support students to improve outcomes. PBIS helps every student to reach their full potential and achieve success in the school environment. During the first couple weeks of school, we will be working at teaching and revisiting the expectations from our SOAR motto (see matrix below).

Mountain View School has a very active PTO. This group of volunteers provides so much support and dedication to our students and staff. WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR THEM! Check it out. Get involved. There are MANY ways to be a part, with a little bit of time or a lot of time.
