Traffic & Parking at Hillside

New Procedures in the Upper Parking Lot - 2024-25 School Year
Upper Parking Lot
The flagpole has been moved, and the center island at Hillside (right in front in the circle drive) has been leveled. During construction, we anticipate we will have less play space for our students; because of this, we will designate the front area of the school as play space during the school day from 9:45 a.m. until 2:45 pm (on M,T, Th, and F) and from 9:45 a.m. until 2:15 on Wednesdays. Please note we will designate some handicapped parking around the curve on the way to the lower lot. There will be no parking spaces available in the upper parking lot from 9:45am until 2:15 or 2:45pm on school days (except for handicapped parking along the curve). Please plan to park in the large lower lot if you come to school during those hours.
As you come in to drop off or pick up students, please go around the center area as we have always done. There will be cones or barrels or parking lot marking there to remind you to go around that center space. (We are still working out how to designate this space.)
We want to be sure our Hillside Tigers have plenty of room to burn off energy during their recess time. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns. My email is bailey.cynthia@westside66.net
Please bring your patience to drop off and pick up!
Drop Off: We will have supervision out fron starting at 8:10 a.m. Please plan to drop off your student for school somewhere between 8:10 and 8:25 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 8:30 a.m. Doors will close at 8:30 a.m., so please plan to walk tardy students into the office to sign them in!
Pick Up: Please bring your patience to pick up! We will do our best to keep traffic moving and to get your student(s) to you in a timely manner. Please do not expect to pick up students before 3:30 on M,T,Th, or F or before 3:00 pm on Wednesdays.
The First Day of School is August 8!!
First Day of School
If you wish to walk your student up to the front of Hillside on the first day of school, we encourage you to find parking, either in the lower lot or close by in the neighborhood. We love to see our families on the first day! We will have some welcome signs, and we invite families to take their first day of school pictures, etc. if that is a tradition for you.
Teachers will carry signs so that students can find their teacher out front. We typically wait past the bell at 8:20 on the first day of school to give students time to find their teacher.
