Free Winter Solstice Celebration

Join us for a morning on the farm, where we will dig potatoes, harvest greens, and work together to make a delicious harvest soup! While the soup is cooking we can visit the farm animals and do some helping jobs on the farm.

The program fee is $15 per child and online registration is open HERE!

Children must attend with an adult. No charge for adults or for children under 2 years old when attending with a registered sibling.

All ages welcome. This is a school day for most local schools and these classes are usually attended by preschoolers and by homeschoolers of all ages!

This is a magical way to kick off the winter school break in the woods.

The winter solstice marks the start of winter

and the longest night and shortest day of the year.

Join us to celebrate nature, community,

and the slow return of the sun!

Activity stations open from 1:30 - 3:30 include:

• Make a solstice lantern to take home
• Enjoy a campfire and a special hot solstice drink
  
• Explore and imagine in our Forest Village play space

At 3 PM we will gather at the campfire to add our wishes for the new year to a special handcrafted wish basket that we will burn in the fire and send our wishes up into the winter sky.

Please plan to arrive no later than 2:30 PM if you'd like to make your own lantern. All activities are outside. The animal yards will NOT be open during this event

FREE, all ages welcome, children must attend with and be supervised by an adult.

Join us anytime from 10 AM - 1 PM for nature play and a campfire.

Campus play spaces will be open for kid-led play and adventure, including:

• farm animal visits (apple slices and lettuce provided for you to feed them, your fresh fruits or veggies also welcome. No bread or other foods please.)
• mud kitchen and sandbox
• fort building and nature play in Forest Village
  
• children's garden exploration
• field and blacktop games (hula hoops, chalk, balls available)
• campfire (no food provided but you are welcome to bring marshmallows or other things to roast!)

Common Ground will be open for programs on many days when schools are closed.

Program hours are 8:30 - 3:00 and morning care/after care are not available unless your child is already enrolled in the Kids Unplugged after school program on the same day.

**We do NOT follow any one district's calendar for offering these days. Please check your school's calendar to see what dates you may need, we see a lot of calendar mistakes and last minute changes when families sign up for these dates and then realize their school is actually open. Vacation day programs are NOT refundable.**

Common Ground will be open for a day of vacation day fun on the dates below:

• Monday, December 23
• Monday, January 6
• Monday, January 20

These days are for children in grades K - 6. Activities are offered in mixed age groups and children will be able to choose between a variety of activities including time with the farm animals, outdoor play, cooking, and other farm and forest fun.

Children should bring a lunch and come dressed for the weather - we will be enjoying winter in nature!
