Northview Familia,
Vikings, our average daily attendance increased to 96.7% last week. Let’s finish the semester strong as we head into finals week. We can do better—together!
General Reminders

Student Accomplishments
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about one of our talented art students! Emily Acevedo has been selected as the winner of the MWD 2025 Art Contest and will be honored at a luncheon on December 12th.
We’re incredibly proud of her achievement and equally excited about the positive impact our new art teacher, Kyle Jennings, has already made on our students.
Former Northview student, De’shon Thompson, helped lead No. 1 Mt. SAC to a 35-37 victory over No. 2 Riverside in the 3C2A So Cal Regional championship football game. Thompson caught six passes for a game-high 158 yards. See the video below.
Have an amazing week, Vikings! Together, we thrive!

Wellness Corner
Greetings from the Wellness Center,
As we wrap up the semester, self-care is crucial for our mental health. Self-care gives one the balance when dealing with life stressors and it has many benefits including reducing stress, anxiety, boosting our mood and overall productivity. Self-Care activities can include exercise, journaling, cooking, listening to music, playing with your pet, etc. Stop by the Wellness Center in M-2 for more tips on self-care AND join us for the event below next week.
AVID Future Ready
This week we will be hosting CBU On the Spot Admissions on Wednesday Dec 11.
Cal Baptist is a small private university in the city of Riverside. CBU is faith based and known for great programs and majors. All of our students who currently attend CBU love it and graduate within 4-years. CBU loves our students and most of our students who apply who meet the requirements, get admitted. Please consider applying and participating in our On The Spot Admissions event.
Counseling Corner
SENIORS! Parents of seniors!
Please plan to attend our Financial Aid Workshop Wednesday, Dec 11th in the Library from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to complete your FAFSA or CADAA. This is a critical step to secure Financial Aid, work opportunities and/or connect to scholarship opportunities as well. Funding your college is so important and your NHS counselors are here to help.
Some CSU campuses have extended their deadline and continue to accept applications. Check on Cal State Apply Application Dates & Deadlines to learn which schools and majors are open. See a counselor, visit the College & Career Center, or an AVID teacher for assistance. Act fast because they are subject to stop accepting applications at any time. Many private and independent 4 year colleges, in addition to California Community Colleges, are open into spring for students to apply.
Vikings!
The fall semester is quickly coming to a close and we will be enjoying winter break before we know it. Please take every opportunity available to complete all assignments, current and past {that will still be accepted}, participate in tutoring after school, communicate with your teachers, create study groups, review your notes and all materials to best prepare and finish strong academically this term. The semester ends on Friday, Dec 20th. The grades earned will appear on your transcript as a permanent record. We do offer summer school and credit recovery, but earning A, B, and C grades the first time is the goal.

Staff Spotlight
Dr. Lindsey Vorndran was a former English teacher here, but is now our school’s ASB advisor. Dr. Vorndran is a true Disney enthusiast whose love for all things magical inspires both students and staff alike.
Outside of the classroom, she is a Disney aficionado with an annual pass and even a side hustle planning Disney vacations—proof that her love for the magic of Disney runs deep! Her favorite part of Northview is the incredible people—students and staff alike—making every workday enjoyable.
Fun fact: Dr. Vorndran was an NCAA Division 1 athlete on the USC Swim Team, though she never actually competed! Whether in the classroom or at Disneyland, Dr. Vorndran brings joy and energy wherever she goes.
We are happy you joined us back at The View. You were missed!
From the Office of Ms. Smith

Explore creative solutions to overcome those barriers
Create meaningful incentive awards and positive recognition for students
Ensure that families and students are informed about the school-based support available to them.
Our first meeting will be Tuesday, December 10 at 3:35pm-4:05pm in the NHS Wellness Center. Future meetings will be determined by the team. If you are interested, please fill out THIS FORM (linked).
