RECOGNITION as a NO PLACE FOR HATE
We are extremely proud that Audubon Jr.-Sr. High School has qualified as an esteemed NO PLACE FOR HATE. Due to the number and quality of programs to celebrate RESPECT and KINDNESS, this prestigious honor was bestowed upon us. Thank you for our phenomenal counselors, administrators and teachers for making this happen. It has been a total group effort that is paying true dividends for our students. District wide we have seen a 37% decrease in Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying cases over the past two years. Also, there has been a 50% decrease in confirmed cases the past two years as well. These are phenomenal statistics, as it has been reported that in New Jersey Schools:
In New Jersey, bullying, harassment, intimidation, and hate crimes are on the rise in schools, reaching the highest levels since the state began collecting data. Specifically, the New Jersey Anti-Bullying Task Force reported a significant increase in Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) incidents, with bias-based incidents quadrupling between 2018 and 2023. Cyberbullying, in particular, has seen a notable rise, increasing from 15% of all bullying incidents in 2018-19 to 37% in 2021-22, according to a report by the New Jersey Anti-Bullying Task Force.

Instrumental Music News
The Audubon Instrumental Music Department had another great concert season this Spring. On April 28th , the Junior and Senior High Bands performed their annual concert, performing some very challenging works along with favorites from movies such as La La Land and Wicked. The Junior High Band was also joined by some band students from Mansion Ave. school to perform one piece together during the concert! Special thanks to Mx. Keyes, Mansion Band Director, and those band
students for performing with the Junior High Band that evening.

This tune featured our All-State Saxophone player and Senior musician Joanna Hyland. The jazz band finished with a Bruno Mars pop-funk tune called Runaway Baby. Mr. DeLoach would like to congratulate all of the band students for another great band year!

The Sky's The Limit: AP Chemistry Launches Rockets
By: Sophia Tessitore, Journalism & Creative Writing
Recently, Mr. Marino's AP Chemistry class shot their hand-painted rockets into the sky. These students worked hard on rockets for around 3 weeks after their AP Chemistry test. They each choose a specific rocket they were to build (the alpha, the wizard, the viking, the Hi-Flyer, and the pencil). Before the students painted their rockets, they had to build them. Using pieces from their rocket kits, they glued pieces together to create the rocket. Certain rocket kits allowed for more creative freedom than others, but everyone found a way to make their rocket their own, especially through painting them. One student, when asked their favorite part of the rocket making process, responded with “My favorite part was painting the rockets.” Then when asked what was your design, responded with "we did superhero themed. We did Batman, and we did Superman.” These students took the opportunity to express their own creativity and strategic designs to get their rockets to fly. Their teacher Mr. Marino "thought it went really well. We had a lot of successful rockets, very few catastrophes. They were decorated well. They flew well. It was a good day, no wind, and we got a lot of them back.” The rocket project was an overall success.

Debate Club Gearing Up
By: Katharine McGurk, Journalism & Creative Writing
The Audubon High School Debate Club is commencing their matchups that will decide the club’s captain. The matchups consist of students debating each other, with a bracket deciding which winners will go up against each other. The first round of debates was completed on June 5th, with Ari Lipsky and Ryan Wynn finishing their debate, leaving the club's students eager to learn who will advance. The topic of the debate for the first round matchups was "should the government regulate AI?" Sides were chosen randomly, one arguing for pro-regulation, and the other arguing for anti-regulation. Multiple arguments backed each side, some consisting of environmental, educational, Constitutional, and ethical insights. The audience was allowed to ask questions, and the participants answered to the best of their ability. Ari Lipsky, when asked what she thought of the debates, said “we made a community for the people in it.”
The second round of matchups was on Monday, June 9th, while the final round occurred the next day. The second round consisted of Andy Manning and Ryan Wynn, who debated if U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement should be reformed. The last round was hosted in the AHS auditorium. When asked about the prospects for the club in general, Jack Borzatta, the cofounder of the club, responded that they “plan on doing a four week workshop in October.” In the workshop, students in the club will be taught various basic debate skills, such as presentation skills and combating things like stuttering. They will also discuss fundraisers and plans for going up against neighboring schools to expand their competition. The Debate Club, by next school year, will be in full swing and welcomes any students who are interested.

Audubon's Unified Event with Haddonfield
Seniors Prepare to Say Goodbye To AHS
By: Tricia Ladzenski, Journalism & Creative Writing
June 18th, the day of graduation, is rapidly approaching, and Seniors have a lot of literal, but also emotional preparation to do before leaving high school. Whether Seniors are going off to college, trade school, the military, or straight into the workforce, graduation is an undeniably important event. The staff at AHS this year have made sure to host numerous events for Seniors to celebrate graduating and reminisce on their time together in school. Some of the exclusive Senior events that occurred this year include the Senior movie night, Senior breakfast, Senior class photo and the Senior trip. There were also many school events that Seniors participated in for the last time such as Homecoming, Winter Ball, the Fall and Spring pep rallies, and spirit weeks and spirit days. At this time, there are still more Senior events coming up such as Senior farewell, Senior walk, graduation and Project Graduation.
The events that already happened have received positive feedback from Seniors. When I asked Senior Joelle Jakubowski what her favorite Senior event this year was, she said, “My favorite event was the Senior movie night because there were lots of snacks and my friends were there.” There is also a lot of anticipation surrounding the upcoming Senior events. When I asked Mr. Polimeni, the Media Specialist at AHS, what Senior event he’s looking forward to, he said, “The Senior farewell. I think it is a special moment because it’s the last time before graduation that the entire class will be in the same place at the same time. And because it’s more of an informal event, students have the opportunity to talk and reflect on their educational experiences.” Overall, Seniors have really loved and appreciated the Senior events this year. Graduation can be sad and scary for many students, so giving the Senior class the chance to bond together and give proper goodbyes beforehand can help ease those negative feelings. Good luck to all our 2025 graduates!
Graduation and Onward: Notes from Audubon High School’s Class of 2025
By: Ava Chrzanowski, Journalism & Creative Writing
With the year drawing to a close, students of all ages at Audubon High School are teeming with anticipation for the summer months. The prospect of weeks without schoolwork or stress has emotions running high-- mostly in a positive way. However, our graduating Seniors have spent the past few weeks reminiscing about their time here at Audubon, and what their uncertain future has to hold.
Senior Olivia White has been going to school in Audubon since Pre-K. We spoke to her about her feelings and the huge change in her life come the new school year, when she’ll be attending TCNJ. “It’s so hard to put into words, honestly,” she told us. “I’m so excited to start a new chapter of my life, but very sad to leave this one behind. I will forever cherish the memories I’ve made here at Audubon.”
Many Seniors hold the opinion that Audubon is a truly special place. The connections formed in such a small learning environment have made their marks on students and teachers alike. To gauge a different perspective on our graduates, we asked Ms. Wood about her favorite memory regarding our Seniors. “My favorite memory is when some members of the class of 2025 painted the tree mural in the back of my classroom,” she told us. The tree stands tall in the corner of the English room, decorated with the handprints of AP students. The gesture displays the sense of gratitude felt towards AHS staff by our Seniors, and the connections they’ve formed during their time here.
There’s no doubt that everyone is feeling the effects of the looming graduation. When asked to comment on the emotions she was feeling, senior Keeley Curran replied with one word: “Nostalgic. I was excited, but now as it’s getting closer I’m reflecting on living here my whole life,” Keeley is bound for Cedar Crest College in the Fall. Her life will likely change drastically with an education-relocation to Allentown, Pennsylvania. Even with new memories to make during her college years, we’re sure she won’t ever forget her time here at Audubon.
Next Fall will bring changes for everyone, for both of those here at Audubon or away starting their college careers. The beauty of our small, tightly-knit community will follow our graduates into the new eras of their lives-- truly displaying the wonderful aspects of Audubon High School.
2025 AHS Prom Takes Place at Collingswood Ballroom
The 2025 Prom was a success! AHS Juniors and Seniors attended the Prom at the Collingswood Ballroom on Friday, May 2. The AHS Prom Committee outdid themselves this year. Our theme this year was “Under the Stars.” Seniors Tyler Wiltsey and Alexa Canuso were crowned king and queen, and danced to the song “All of Me” by John Legend. A special thanks to the Prom Committee, especially Ashley Sinatra and Mrs. Sinatra for the beautiful, handmade, moon centerpieces. AHS Juniors and Seniors danced the night away!
AHS Hosts All-Inclusive Walk For Acceptance
By: Finola Witherington, Journalism & Creative Writing
On Sunday, June 1st, 2025, from 10-11am, Audubon hosted the All Inclusive Walk for Acceptance. Interact Club, AHS Unified Champions Club, and Haddonfield Unified Champions Club worked together to organize, advertise, and conduct this beautiful event, trying to gain as many attendees as possible. For one hour, students, adults, and community members walked around the Audubon High School track to celebrate inclusion and acceptance of ALL students. Mrs. Bridget Garrity-Bantle, the staff leader of AHS Unified Champions Club, spoke about the walk: “Two communities came together to lead the Inclusion Revolution. Our Unified Generation is showing everyone that our unique abilities will change the world.”
The event was a huge success. One student even claimed, “This year was the most crowded I have ever seen the walk!”
The Digital Classroom: Is Technology Helping or Hurting Learning?
By: Jason Ortiz, Journalism & Creative Writing
From smartboards to Chromebooks, technology is rapidly changing the way students and teachers experience education at Audubon High School. While some welcome the shift, others are still adjusting to a system that feels very different from what school looked like just a few years ago.
“Everything is online now, like notes, assignments, even tests,” said Senior Peyton Sayers. “It’s convenient, but sometimes it feels like we’re just staring at screens all day.” Like many students, Peyton appreciates the easier access to information but misses more hands-on, personal learning.
Teachers are navigating the shift, too. Mrs. Bulskis, who teaches U.S. History II, sees both the pros and cons. “Technology lets me share resources instantly and track student progress more efficiently,” she said. “But I also notice that some students are more distracted, and meaningful discussion can get lost behind the screens.”
With tools like Google Classroom, digital textbooks, and virtual labs becoming the norm, traditional learning methods are being replaced. Some classes no longer use paper at all, and snow days are now replaced with remote learning days. While the future of education seems to be digital, it raises important questions about balance, screen time, and staying connected in real life.
As technology continues to evolve, so will the classroom. Whether that change is for better or worse is something students and teachers are still figuring out together.
