Notes from the Nurse
Happy February. I cannot believe that January has come and gone. I hope everyone enjoyed their week off with the snowstorm. I enjoyed it for a little while but goodness it was so cold. I was also glad to get back to work and back into a routine. For those of you that do not already know, we are heavily into flu season. There have been increased cases of flu in our area. Additionally, I have been seeing an increased amount of stomach issues (i.e. Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea and Stomach aches). Please remind your student that the best line of defense for preventing any infection is hand washing. When hands are visibly soiled, please do not use hand sanitizer, only soap and water. Also remember that if your student has a fever of 100.4 or greater, vomiting, or diarrhea that they must be 24 hours fever free without fever reducing medications such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen as well as no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school. Also please remember to send a parent or doctor’s note for the absence when they return. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at 221-2106 or jhwalker@mcpss.com.
