2024-2025 School Year Calendar was presented and discussed
2023-24 School Calendar Proposed!
- 1st day of school August 13 as a half day
- Winter Break Dec 23-Jan 3 with a staff only day on January 6
- Spring Break March 10-14
- Last day of school May 23
- No School K-12 on 8 staff development days & 2 elementary-only planning days with no school for elementary students.
23-24 District Communication Goals presented to the Board
A brief overview of the communication action steps were shared with the Board
Based on staff and parent survey results along with input from Principals and other stakeholders, the following action steps have been put in place to ensure PLCS continues to grow and improve with communication to all stakeholders.
Continue to improve overall climate of staff through a focus on peer to peer gratitude, structured recognition, self care, and internal communication.
Increase transparency and build support of external stakeholders through storytelling and community engagement strategies.
Increase staff, parents and community members’ knowledge of the progress on the bond issue, building a foundation for future bond issues.
Implement a recruiting and marketing plan to increase the number of quality applications to an average of 50 a month in all areas and maintain no more than 20 open classified positions.
Improve student achievement by engaging parents in the education of their children.
Replace current website to better communicate with all stakeholders.
PLCS Board of Education Seeking Applications for a New Board Member
The Board of Education is now accepting applications for a new Board Member position. The open position is due to the resignation of a board member. The individual selected to fill this position will complete the remainder of the term which runs through December, 2026.
Requirements to be a Board Member:
- Resident of PLCS
- At least 18 Years old
- Not an employee of PLCS
- Registered voter in PLCS District

October 10 - Begin Advertisement of Vacancy - Open Application Process
November 3 @ 4:30pm - Completed applications must be submitted to be considered.
November 6 @ 6:00pm - Special Board meeting will be held for the purpose of narrowing the candidates to five. This meeting will be open to the public. Candidates will be notified with the results of the meeting by end of business on November 7.
November 13 @ 6:00pm - Regular Board meeting. During the meeting, the five finalists will be interviewed. The interviews are open to the public. Each finalist will be given a max of 5 minutes to share information about themselves and why they want to be on the Board. Following the presentation by the candidate, there will be time for the Board to ask questions of the candidate. After all interviews are completed, the Board will debate in the public meeting and will vote on their selection. This entire process will occur during the open Board meeting.
November 27 - New Board member joins the Board and takes the Oath of Office at the beginning of the meeting.
How do I apply?
Each interested applicant will need to complete the online Google application form. If you do not have access to the internet, you may come to the central office, 420 S. Washington Street. A computer and assistance will be available for you. If you would like to review the application prior to completing it, a PDF version can be found here. Please note if you start the application and do not close it, your answered questions will remain in the form until you complete it and submit it. If you start the application and then close it before submitting, your answered questions will be lost.

Twice a year during a staff workday, the district puts on a conference for all paraprofessionals and food service workers to grow in their skills and knowledge by learning more about topics essential to their roles.

- Cost is $30 per couple and $10 for each additional child.
- Along with dancing there will be craft tables, light refreshments, and an opportunity to purchase t-shirts.
- The theme is "NEON", so get ready to glow! The preferred attire is dressy/semi-formal, but will accept any and all attendees.
