Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-
Another great week here at RHS! Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Back To School Night event Thursday. We’re fortunate to have enough flexibility in our space here to quickly adjust from an outside event to an indoor event. Haven’t seen a rain like that in a long time. Thank you to Idaho Central Credit Union, Dane Joe Coffee, and Kona Ice for participating in our night!
Our office staff had a good laugh last Friday when we learned our young Dean of Students, Ms. Fraser, had never heard of the Little River Band or Duran Duran! You know you’re getting old when…!
Shout out to our amazing staff Sunshine Club (pictured below)! This group takes such good care of us and you can’t help but smile when they are around cause they truly make your day brighter! Thank you!
So… how are we doing out there in the driveway during drop-off and pick-up? Some areas of improved flow and less blocking of traffic has been noticeable. Here’s a couple more suggestions/requests: If you’re in the valet line continue to pull forward rather than waiting in a stationery spot. Other cars wait behind and space opens up in front, but nobody is using it, and we get further backed up. Please pull forward. Another area we would like to keep clear is the STAFF/VISITOR parking lot. Please don’t pull through or park in that lot. We do have staff leaving and other folks arriving for school business that should be able to park there. Finally, “Keep your head on a swivel”—an old football expression to always pay attention to your surroundings so you don’t get smacked by someone you don’t see coming. The good news is every day is an improvement and if you are patient and plan on the 15 minute process all will be good!
ATTENDANCE: We pulled a report for Thursday and Friday’s first period attendance to review tardies (late to school/class) and found 128 Thursday and 98 today. On the brighter side over 1000 students were on time! Goal: be at one of the two Ridgeline entrances before 7:35/8:05-Thursday, and your student should be able to get to first period on time.
We kick off homecoming festivities next week and encourage all students to get in on the fun with each spirit dress up day! We’ll cap off the week Friday with an all-school spirit assembly in the stadium at the end of the day. Friday night we host Cheney for the football game and at half time we’ll be entertained by the Ridgeline Regiment AND announce the Homecoming Royalty! The festivities will end at midnight Saturday at the conclusion of our first ever homecoming dance! New hours 8-12pm. Keep reading for further details about homecoming and other important schedules, activities, and deadlines.
I’m grateful to work with such awesome young people every day—they make my job incredibly fun! We appreciate your support and are committed to building a strong school/community culture for our students today and our students tomorrow. Make it a great weekend! –Mr. Hardt

“Duty, Honor, Country” This is the succinct but storied motto of the United States Military Academy at West Point, the first military academy in the United States, established in 1802. Today, West Point is one of the nation’s most prestigious post-secondary institutions. If your son or daughter has interest in combining his/her strong leadership and academic attributes with service to country via the U.S. Army, the United States Military Academy at West Point is one option s/he can explore. If you and your freshmen, sophomore, or junior son or daughter are interested in learning more, there is an informational session on Saturday, October 8th, from 10:30-12:00 in the Argonne Library conference room. LTC (Retired) Keven Arbanas, LTC Alan Westfield, and Mr. Ezra Eckhardt will share information on the institution, its programs, and the admission process.
