Millard Adopts 10-Point Grading Scale
Millard Public Schools is making an important change to our grading system. The Board voted unanimously last night for the update. Beginning in August of 2025, the district will transition from a 7-point grading scale to a 10-point grading scale. This means that “1” (or an "A") will now be earned with a 90-100% instead of the previous 93-100% range. As we make this change, we will also begin using an A-F marking system instead of the current 1-5 marking system.
This change comes after significant research and study as part of our District Strategic Plan, Strategy 1.1, and aligns our grading practices with many colleges, universities, and school districts nationwide as well as our own post secondary partners. It provides a more consistent system for students while ensuring their grades reflect their achievements.
We are committed to supporting students, parents, and staff through this transition. More details will be shared in the coming weeks and during back-to-school meetings in the fall. If you have any questions as we make the transition, please reach out to your child’s school.
