Computer Science
- Computer Science can be taken via ACCESS, but the law recommends having a face-face teacher.
- If ACCESS is used for the class, a written explanation of why the class is being offered online must be submitted to the legislature.
- If a prospective teacher is not eligible for certification, he/she can attend one of the 4-day summer sessions to acquire a course-specific permit.
The Alabama Literacy Act Implementation Guide Document

Professional Learning Opportunities
Math Course Summer Training by A+ College Ready
- A+ College Ready Math Course Trainings will be funded via grants, so if teachers register, they must attend, or the school must refund the money
- Training Info will be released in April 2020
AMSTI
- Similar training will be available for middle and high school math teachers during the summer of 2020.
- AMSTI will offer an array of numeracy trainings in an effort to make training available to all K-3 teachers
- There will be collaboration/coordination between Ms. Gillis and the AMSTI directors to maximize staff and resources (February 2020)
