EARLY PICK UP OR AFTER SCHOOL APPOINTMENTS
If you would like to pick up your son/daughter early for an appointment, please pick up your child before 2:45PM. After 2:45PM, your child will be asked to wait with the other walkers, bus and car riders in his/her classroom, to ensure a safe and efficient dismissal for everyone.
Thank you!
VOLUNTEERING INFORMATION
To volunteer at a class party or chaperone a field trip, your clearances must be up-to-date.
If your clearances are current, upload them into the App Garden - Volunteer Tracker. If your clearances have expired, or you need to begin the clearance process, click on the Required Documents for the directions. For more information, consult the Human Resources Volunteer Required Paperwork webpage.
PROPER FOOTWEAR FOR PE & RECESS
During physical activity, it is important that students wear proper footwear. Loose fitting shoes (i.e. crocs, moccasins, slippers, etc.) create safety challenges during recess and physical education class. For example, during kick ball at recess, crocs have flown off and we have had a few toe injuries during PE.
If your child has physical education class, or would like to play an active recess game, please ensure that they are wearing sneakers. Thank you!
2-HOUR DELAY FOR SNOW
Going into the winter season...
If there is inclement weather in our forecast, then there may be a 2-hour delay. Should that occur, please plan for the following schedule.
- Grades 1-6: 10:35AM - 3:15PM
- AM Kindergarten: 10:35AM - 12:20PM
- PM Kindergarten: 1:30PM-3:15PM - Parent Drop off at 1:20PM
GETTING TO KNOW AUTHOR ANNE WHIPPLE!
Did you know that it’s not just an author who creates a book!? The process also includes writer’s groups, editors, publishers, book distributors, printers, and design teams! In addition to learning about all the different people involved in the creation of a book, Gayman’s 1st-6th grade students learned about author Annette Whipple’s research process as well. She spoke about how she reads books, uses the internet, and talks to experts to gather information when she was writing. She even brought a spider exoskeleton that a spider researcher gave her to share with our students! Through Annette Whipple, our students learned that “Facts are FUN!”
Thank you to Gayman’s Home and School for supporting this author visit and giving us the opportunity to add a copy of Annette’s books to each classroom in our school!
If your family would like to order one of Annette’s Whipple’s Who Knew!? Animal books, complete the attached form and send it in by March 4! Annette’s book are a little difficult to source right now—orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis!

FREE & REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATION

PLANTING A LITTLE KINDNESS WITH KCC!
Just yesterday, our KCC volunteers worked on something special for seniors at a local nursing home. After decorating small flower pots with markers and stickers, they planted mini succulents inside to brighten the rooms of the residents. The students also hand-wrote notes to the senior citizens, in the hopes of sparking a pen-pal connection.
A very big thank you to everyone who made this KCC meeting so lovely: the hard-working students, the super-helpful parents, and Mr. Ortman, for stopping by to catch the kindness in action.
MINDFUL MOVEMENT YOGA CLUB - STARTS 3/5
We have 15 students signed up for our first yoga club! Class will start on Tuesday, March 5th. Yoga mats will be provided for all students unless you prefer to bring your worn. Pick up is at 4:30pm.
Parents please form a car loop line along the front of the school as we will dismiss out of the bus rider door (under the gayman sign).
