Summer Learning for Middle & High School Students
JCS will offer summer programming for middle and high school students requiring academic remediation following the 2023-24 school year. This five-week, in-person program will assist students in bridging learning gaps and staying on track with their educational goals.
Pre-K Registration
Did you know Jefferson County Schools offers free Pre-K to Jefferson County residents? Take advantage of this wonderful program that is full day Monday through Friday during the school year. A full day for Pre-K is a 5-hour day.
Kindergarten Registration
The state of West Virginia (W. Va. Code §18-5-18) requires children to be five years of age by July 1st of the year in which they wish to attend kindergarten.
Summer Programming
JCS is not offering the Summer Experience this year for all students. Below are some local programs available to families.
Jefferson County Parks & Recreation
Jefferson County Parks and Recreation offers camps and programs all summer long.
Charles Town Library
The Charles Town Library, is hosting a 2024 Summer Reading Program: “Adventure Begins at Your Library,” which runs from June 3-August 5.
There will be a Summer Reading Program Kick-off Party at the library on Saturday June 1st, 10:00-12:00. Games, crafts, a pirate scavenger hunt, snacks, and help with registering for the reading challenge will all be offered.
Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle
The Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle strives to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. We do this by providing quality after school, summer and other programming to keep young people engaged in learning and character development.
Vaccinations
The WVDE requires rising 7th and 12th graders to have a Tdap and Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine to start the 2024-25 school year. Vaccinations are also required for initial registration with Jefferson County Schools, you must provide proof of these vaccinations prior to starting school.
