๐ธ Highlights of the Week
Wearing Blue for Catholic Ed
Thank you to our school family who honoured Catholic Education by wearing Blue this week. Blue is a powerful symbol of constancy, fidelity, genuineness, and aspiration. It also holds a special connection to the Blessed Virgin Mary, making it a fitting choice during October, the month of the rosary. By wearing blue, we recognize and celebrate the vital role publicly funded Catholic schools play in shaping both education and faith across Alberta and Canada. Letโs come together to visibly show our support and pride in Catholic education!
Catholic Education Week 2024 Prayer
Heavenly Father,
you are the source of our hope and joy.
During Catholic Education Week,
help us to be brave in sharing
the reasons for our hope with others.
May our words and actions reflect
Your light and inspire those around us
to seek and find the hope You offer.
Amen

We are looking forward to a day full of Spooooooooooktacular fun.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Dear STMN Parents and Families,
We are excited to announce that the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to St. Martinโs Catholic School! Choosing their own books not only empowers children but also inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. As always, every purchase made at the Book Fair benefits our school, helping us to continue providing enriching resources for all students.
The Book Fair will take place on November 6 and November 7 during school library hours, and it will also be open after school during Parent-Teacher Interviews until 7 p.m. For those who prefer to shop online, online orders will be accepted until November 10. The Book Fair will be held in our school library, and we accept cash, credit, and debit for all purchases.
We invite you to visit the Scholastic Book Fair website to explore the digital flyers and preview some of the wonderful titles that will be available:

At St. Martinโs, we believe in fostering a love of reading within the context of our Catholic values. We see reading not only as an opportunity for academic growth but also as a way to deepen our understanding of Godโs creation and His plan for us. Let us continue encouraging our children to explore stories that inspire, uplift, and educate them in their faith and learning. The countdown to Bookjoy is on!

The cost of a Pin is $2, but you are welcome to donate whatever amount you feel comfortable giving if you are able. If you are unable please do not feel the need to donate. There is a form in PowerSchool where the office will collect donations for the Poppy Campaign. Thank you so much for your support in this Remembrance Day fundraiser!

๐ซ Learners and Learning
Mentorship Program Strengthens Bonds Between St. Martinโs and St. Maryโs Students
At St. Martinโs Catholic School, we are blessed to be part of a vibrant Catholic community that fosters growth and learning at every level. One of the most meaningful programs we have is our mentorship initiative with St. Maryโs Catholic Jr. High and High School. This program allows older students to serve as role models, offering guidance and support to our younger learners. Itโs a beautiful expression of our Catholic valuesโbuilding relationships, nurturing faith, and encouraging academic excellence across all ages.
This week, we were thrilled to welcome Mr. Kobelskyโs Grade 8 Religion class, who partnered with our Grade 3S group to assist with Language Arts. The collaboration was a huge success! The Grade 8 students provided one-on-one support, helping the younger students develop their reading and writing skills, while also building bonds that extend beyond the classroom.
These mentorship moments offer invaluable opportunities for both groups of students. The younger children benefit from personalized attention, while the older students grow in leadership and responsibility. Itโs a beautiful way to create a caring, interconnected community, where learning and faith are shared.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Kobelsky and his Grade 8 students for their generosity, dedication, and willingness to inspire our younger learners. Their mentorship is helping shape the next generation of students in both faith and academics. We look forward to many more wonderful collaborations!
