60 SECONDS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT
Mrs. Katie Hawk has been a part of our District her entire life. She is an SHS Graduate, and has spent her entire educational career at SCS (elementary teacher at Whitney and Surrarrer, Literacy Coach for the District, Assistant Principal at Kinsner and Muraski) - SCS is truly home for Mrs. Hawk. Prior to the school year, she was named Principal at Whitney Elementary. Click HERE for this week’s episode to learn more about Mrs. Hawk and the excitement she has for the Whitney community.
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. LEAH GIBSON, 1ST GRADE TEACHER AT MURASKI ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Leah Gibson is in her fourth year as a first grade teacher at Muraski Elementary. Before coming to Strongsville City Schools, Mrs. Gibson worked in education for 24 years in Texas. She earned her undergraduate degree from Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX. Even though she has Texas roots, she loves the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and Cleveland Monsters!
“The best moments in my classroom are when students realize they have learned something or accomplished something they either didn't know they could do, or were having a hard time completing. The look on their faces when they realize what they have done is priceless,” said Mrs. Gibson.
“I love working with my first grade team of teachers and collaborating with them to create resources and activities that engage and challenge our students, while meeting the learning standards and goals we have set for them. We see each other's strengths and value them to make our team strong in growing to be better everyday, no matter how many years we have been teaching. I am blessed to work with kind, amazing people in the entire Muraski family.”
Thank you Mrs. Gibson for being part of a great team at Muraski and helping our first graders grow and develop! #BeTheDifference
