Dragon Community Newsletter #18
Denn John Middle School 24-25: December 16, 2024
Together! Always!
Dragon Community,
As we approach the winter break, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your continued support and trust in our school. It has been a wonderful semester, and we are so fortunate to have such dedicated families as part of our DJMS community.
During this well-deserved break, I encourage you to enjoy some quality time with your child and loved ones. Take time to recharge, relax, and create cherished memories together. Reading with your child during the holiday pauses is a fantastic way to nurture their love for learning, and I hope you’ll take a few moments each day to enjoy a good book together.
On behalf of all the staff at DJMS, thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We are excited for the upcoming year and the continued growth and success of our students.
I wish you all a safe, joyful, and happy holiday season. May you find peace and joy in the time spent with family and friends.
The newsletter will return on January 4, 2025.

At Home Support
1. Parent Portal Sign Up
The best way to know live data of your student's performance is through the parent portal! Here you can see grades, attendance, discipline referrals, teacher notes, and testing information in live time. For your reference, below you will find the attachment to sign up. I highly recommend this for all parents!
2. Discipline Support
Parents, zero tolerance continues to apply on specific discipline codes. Note, fights, gang-affiliation, bullying, harassment, and direct disrespect to staff will not be tolerated. Should these infractions occur, I will request a recommendation of expulsion on Level 4 or higher cases. If a student decides to strike back after not hitting first, then this defined as a fight. Our discipline records have tremendously improved! Help us to continue a positive learning environment at DJMS!
3. Reading Challenges- Winter Break
Parents, be on the lookout this week for our flyer on social media. We will promote a reading challenge for those students who read the most over the winter break! Incentives will be included.
Athletics
Everything Athletics!
1. Basketball season is almost here!
The boys and girls schedules will be released after winter break.
A physical must be on file.
