REPORT CARDS - 2ND TRIMESTER
The 2nd trimester ended on February 17th. We will have an awards assembly in the church on Friday, February 28th at 1:00 PM. If parents would like a copy of their students report card, you may print a copy under the "Documents" section of their Sycamore profile once we have them finalized and posted. Hard copies will not be sent home until the end of the year.
HEALTH REMINDERS
Just a reminder that we have had an increase in illnesses. Per school policy, your child must be fever, vomit and diarrhea free for at least 24 hours without medication in order to return to school.
*Please remind your students to practice good handwashing and to try to cover their coughs and sneezes with their elbow.
SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED
The School Board will need 3 new members for the 2025-26 school year. The school board is an advisory board that meets the 2nd Monday of every other month at the school. School board members commit to a 3 year term. If you would like to run for school board, send a short paragraph telling a little about yourself and why you would like to be on the board to schoolboard@stcindependence.org. Nominations/biographies will be taken until March 28. If you have any questions, please, reach out to one of the current board members or email schoolboard@stcindependence.org.
CLUBS - 3RD TRIMESTER
3rd trimester clubs will begin on March 3rd. If you did not sign up previously and would like to do so, please click the link below. The fee is $5. If you have not paid for the first two trimesters, please send that in ASAP.

CAFETERIA
CAFETERIA HELP NEEDED!!!
We really need help in our cafeteria on a daily basis. Great way to earn Parent Partnership hours. Kitchen Help will assist the cafeteria with serving food. Cafe Monitor will assist students with opening items and cleaning tables.
You must be VIRTUS compliant. Parent hours need to be logged in to Sycamore for approval!

Almost time for some DRAMA!
The Drama Club students are in the final stretch of practice for their production of "Alice @ Wonderland". The students are perfecting their songs, choreography and lines to make this a must see for all ages. Everyone should be off script now and gathering things for their costumes. If you have a child in the production, please go over their lines with them and make sure they have everything they need for their character. If you are having a difficult time finding costume ideas, please let Ms. Kohl or Mrs. Rahschulte know ASAP so we can help. Dates and location are March 21 and 22 at Simon Kenton. Let's make this our best yet!!

RELATED ARTS IN REVIEW
STEAM
STEAM activities have been very exciting and great opportunities for investigating, learning and problem solving. Students have participated in lessons about atoms, molecules, static electricity, how things balance, which surface is best for building a substantial structure and more. Presently, all classes are participating in Science Buddies Engineering Challenge where the students are to research and then build a rocket catcher. Using the specific guidelines, students are learning about kinetic and potential energy, conservation of energy, aerodynamic forces, drag, life, stability, engineering, and collaboration. We are excited about the outcome of our final products!

Our next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, March 25 at 6:30pm in the School Cafeteria. We will be discussing open PTO Board positions and will be taking names of those interested to attend a meeting to review board positions and duties for next year! SWEETHEART DANCE
A huge THANK YOU to all of our volunteers, and those who donated items, who helped make the Sweetheart Dance such a fun and memorable event! We couldn't do it without you!
SAVE THE DATE for our "Mother/Son" bowling event, held on Sunday, April 13 from 1-3. This is a special event for all boys and their moms/mother figures in grades pre-k through 8th grade. Details to come in a few weeks!
STAGETTE
Our annual Stagette will take place on Saturday, March 15 at Receptions in Erlanger. If you still need a ticket, please email stagette@stcindependence.org and we will get back to you!

STAGETTE VOLUNTEERS
The PTO needs your help at our Annual Ladies Stagette. The event is from 6:30pm-midnight on Saturday, March 15. The PTO is hoping for 50 or more volunteers to make this night a success. You will need to arrive early, but most events will end prior to midnight. In the past, men have been the primary volunteers for this event, however, this year, ladies may also volunteer. Just remember those volunteering may not participate in any of the gaming/raffles. Please, click the link to fill out a form and you will be contacted with more details as the event gets closer. SPORTS UPDATES
BOYS BASKETBALL
The fourth grade boys team finished off their season with a tournament at Walton Verona Elementary. Both St. Cecilia teams had to show their grit and determination by having to come back from being down 11 points in the semi finals. Both teams were victorious and played each other for the championship game! Having a St Cecilia versus St. Cecilia championship game is no stranger to these boys. It is almost becoming a reoccurring theme every year.
The picture below shows what true sportsmanship is like. They played hard and left it all on the court, but once the final horn blew, they were all back to being best of friends.
BASKETBALL UNIFORMS
Please be sure to return basketball uniforms as soon as possible. Write your child's name and grade on a piece of paper and place inside a bag with their uniform. Students can drop them off in the tote as they walk into school. Uniforms must be returned as they cost $85 to replace.
ANNUAL GOLF OUTING
The 5th Annual Golf Outing presented by the St. Cecilia Sports Committee is now open for registration! Held at Hickory Sticks Golf Club on Saturday June 7th. K OF C FREE THROW CONTEST - RESCHEDULED
The Father McGivney Council #12502 will host the rescheduled Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest in the St. Cecilia Gym at 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. Doors open at 12:15 for registration and shoot around. The event is for 9–14 year old boys and girls. Age will be determined by your age on January 1, 2025. Certificates will be given to each participant, and plaques and medals will be awarded to the winners of the boys and girls in each age group. Winners will advance to the District and Regional Events on the same day. The event is free and will include a Hospitality Room with free pizza, chips, and soft drinks for participants.
