Newsletter 14 November 2024
From the Principal
Kia ora Whānau,
I'm writing to express our sincere gratitude to the PTA for their tireless efforts and generous contributions to our school. Your fundraising initiatives and purchases have significantly enhanced our students learning experiences.
Recent Purchases and Initiatives
Chromebook Upgrade: We are excited to announce that we are in the process of purchasing $5000 worth of Chromebooks. These devices will be housed in a newly acquired computer charging trolley, thanks to a grant from the Oxford Trust.
Sports Equipment: The PTA has generously allocated $4377.44 for new sports equipment. This investment will enrich our students physical education experiences and provide them with ample opportunities for active play during breaks and lessons. Additionally, a portion of these funds have been used to purchase storage tubs to help our sports monitors maintain an organized and efficient sports shed.
Discovery Learning: Our junior school has benefited greatly from a $3394.82 investment in discovery learning resources. On Fridays, our junior students participate in valuable Discovery Learning Time, where they collaborate in mixed-age groups (R4, 5 & 12, and R10 & 11) and rotate through a variety of engaging activities. This approach fosters key competencies, self-management skills, social interaction, and a strong sense of community.
Play Equipment: The PTA has also purchased two fantastic mini sit-on wooden diggers, crafted by the Men's Shed. These play items provide excellent opportunities for fine and gross motor skill development. We are incredibly grateful for the PTAs unwavering support and dedication to our school. Your contributions are making a real difference in the lives of our students.

Sandpit Diggers
Room 4 have been working on their co-ordination and gross and fine motor skills using the sandpit diggers inside the classroom. It seemed so easy when we first looked at the diggers. But then we had to sit on them, move the handles, control the lift and the reach, as well as coordinate and move the load into the bucket. It was not as easy as it looked, but we are working hard to get the hang of it.
Year 7/8 Volleyball
A large group of our Year 7/8 students competed in a volleyball competition on Thursday. Our team made it to the finals but lost to Huanui College.
