Centennial Middle School

Letter from Principal Rosenbach
Hello Centennial families,
Thank you to all of our Veterans in our Patriot Community who were able to attend our assembly honoring your service. We honored our Veterans and our ASB students, CMS band, and Snohomish High School MCJROTC Color Guard did an outstanding job in the assembly. Captain Lennon, SHS MCJROTC instructor, was our featured speaker and brought a great message with him. Thank you, Captain Lennon, and all of our Veterans!
We are also continuing this year with our motto of Being Safe, Being Responsible, and Being Respectful. Overall, our students do an amazing job of being and doing these three things. At times, as we all do, some of our students make mistakes and need to be re-taught the expectations here at CMS. Please know that the staff is committed to being consistent with all students, providing them with high support, and holding them accountable as needed. We believe the more consistent we are with our students the easier it will be for them to be successful.
Lastly, this week is Thanksgiving and I sincerely hope you are all able to have some time together with friends and/or family, get some rest, and rejuvenate for when we return from the holiday break. We have an altered schedule on Wednesday with it being a half day ending at 10:30 a.m. Also, a reminder that our December calendar is a little different than it has been in years past and our last day of school in 2023 is Wednesday, December 20th.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to read the newsletter in its entirety as it is the primary way we are able to communicate with the CMS community as a whole. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and an absolutely wonderful holiday season!
Respectfully,
Josh Rosenbach
Principal
Thanksgiving Break
November 22 will be a half day. Students will get out at 10:30 a.m. Please be sure if you are picking your student up that you are here promptly when school lets out. No school on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24. Have a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend!
Let's Dance!
In Math 8th grade, we are busy learning about angles and angle relationships! When parallel lines are crossed by a 3rd line, called a transversal, it creates 8 angles that all have a relationship the other angles. To help us practice identifying the names of these angle pairs, students participated in “Dance-Dance-Transversal.”
Using the space in the library, multiple classes joined together to move their feet to the beat of pop songs similar to the dance game “Dance-Dance-Revolution.” Students called out the vocabulary on the screen and jumped their feet to the appropriate set of angles on the parallel lines taped to the floor!
If you have an 8th grader, ask them to draw you a “dance floor” and show you where the alternate interior angles or, or maybe a set of corresponding angles!

Holiday Donations and Assistance
Assistance:
There are many resources available to our community and we would love to help connect families in need to these supplies. With the holidays upon us, we are very aware that some families may need assistance to make the season bright. If you or your family might have a need, we would like the opportunity to help. Please reach out to our school student support advocate:

Donations:
Also, if you would like to donate to help families this season, please feel free to support our community by offering gift cards in $25 increments to places like grocery stores, or multipurpose stores. This allows families to buy groceries, gifts, and gas freely with one card. We appreciate your care and support for others. Helping others is a gift in itself. If you are planning to donate, please reach out to Chynna Loeffler as well.
November Counselor's Corner
Counselor's Corner:
As we approach the holidays, many of us look forward to spending time with family and friends and sharing in the joys of the season. However, for some, the holiday season brings up negative feelings. At this time of year, more than any other, we think about loved ones we have lost, how to finance the gifts and experiences we want to give our family, how to “make the rounds” to all the places people expect us to be, how to survive hours in the car with small children, and the list goes on. Here are some tips and resources to help with the holidays:
