Students continued to study examples of memoirs while noting author’s craft and techniques. They also used additional brainstorming strategies to prepare to draft their memoirs. Students also finished their 5th book of the year. Their next personal reading book is due November 18! As always, thank you for encouraging your child to read at home regularly. Science- Mrs. Kenney
This week in science, we continued with our Forces and Interactions Unit. Students completed Newton Cars Labs. In lab one, students observed how increasing the mass on a toy car affects the time it takes a car to travel 50 centimeters. In lab two, students observed how increasing force affects the time it takes a car to travel 50 centimeters. Students collected data as evidence to show that change in an object’s motion depends on the sum of the forces on the object and the mass. Social Studies- Mr. Ward
This week in social studies, we continued looking at the events that led to the American Revolution. Students are working on a timeline activity, researching the events leading to the American Revolution. The timeline assignment is located in Google Classroom. We were also visited by the Parks department on Tuesday. The guest speakers discussed St.Louis’ role in the American Revolution. Next week, we will begin looking at the Articles of Confederation and the Declaration of Independence.
