MY SCHOLARSHIP IS ASKING FOR RECOMMENDATION WHAT DO I DO?
- Step One: Ask your teacher in person for a recommendation.
- Step Two: Complete the Brag Sheet below and give it to your teacher, this will help them write you a quality recommendation.
- Step Three: Add your teachers name in Maia Learning. Click the University tab on the left. Then click recommendations at the top. Enter your recommenders name and the deadline for the recommendation. Keep in mind you need to give them at least 5-10 working days.
Keep in mind after your teacher writes you a recommendation you will not be able to have a copy of your recommendation(s). These are confidential.
If you need a copy of your recommendation you will need to ask Mrs. Bradley in the Counseling Center. She will be happy to help you. If you have any questions see Mrs. Bradley.

WHAT IS SPONSORSHIP?
Sponsorship is both a recruiting and a training tool. A company "sponsors" one or more students by covering tuition, books, and/or fees, with the understanding that the student/employee will stay with the company for a specified period after completion of training. Employers get to develop and prepare their future workforce, and sponsored students/employees can obtain paid work experience while receiving hands-on classroom and lab instruction at MCC. METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
All students - new and current - apply once per academic year through one application and will be considered for each eligible scholarship during every scholarship period. AUTOMOTIVE WOMEN'S ALLIANCE FOUNDATION EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE DECMEBER 31
Scholarships are awarded to female with North American citizenship and a passion for a career or advancement in the automotive, mobility and its related industries. While AWAF members and family members are encouraged to apply for scholarships, we encourage applicants who are not affiliated with the organization to also apply. To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants should be already accepted to or enrolled in an accredited collegiate program, with a 3.0 or higher GPA and a citizen within North America. We accept applications throughout the year.

DWS TRADES SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE: DECMEBER 6 EARLY GRADS - MARCH 14 ALL OTHERS
Drake-Williams Steel is dedicated to helping youth in the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro to attend to and succeed in higher education institutions. The purpose of the DWS Trades Scholarship program is to provide scholarships annually to high school seniors with the goal of pursuing a career in the steel industry. The recipient(s) will receive tuition funds to apply to a trade related degree [ex: Welding, Electro-mechanical Maintenance, Machining, Drafting] from a local community, or technical college, and an accompanying employment opportunity.
Criteria and eligibility:
1. Applicant must be enrolled at a high school in Nebraska or Iowa.
2. Applicant must be a graduating senior in the year of the award.
3. Applicant must have at least a 2.0 grade point average (“C” average.)
4. Applicant must demonstrate community and/or extra-curricular involvement.
5. Scholarship recipient must maintain at least Part-Time status of employment at DWS in good standing to continue receiving tuition scholarship funds.
6. Scholarship recipient must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in their community college coursework to be eligible for tuition fund sponsorship.

NEBRASKA CONCRETE & AGGREGATES ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE APRIL 15
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Students must be residents of Nebraska and enrolled full-time in a college within the State of Nebraska or majoring in a Concrete Industry Management program from other colleges in the Midwest.
Applicants’ majors must be related to concrete materials or concrete construction. NC&AA Scholarships support both Associate and Bachelor degrees.
The NC&AA Scholarship Committee will review applications from qualified students and rank them based on their proven interest in advancing design and construction incorporating cast-in-place concrete.

DJ'S HERO SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE MARCH 13
The Salvation Army D.J.’s Hero Awards Program is named in memory of D.J. Sokol, who lost his battle with cancer in 1999 at age 18. His parents, David and Peggy Sokol, established the program to honor the achievements of outstanding Nebraska high school seniors who overcome adversity and show outstanding leadership qualities in their communities. Every year, a new group of recipients is presented with $12,000 D.J.'s Hero Awards scholarships during the Hero Awards Luncheon, which is held in Omaha. More than two decades after the founding of the program, D.J.’s legacy lives on in the scholarship recipients—all of whom demonstrate his trademark resilience, kindness, and generosity.

NPLF SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE MARCH 14
Attention future teachers! The NPLF is awarding two, $1,000 scholarships to two high school seniors who are pursuing higher education to become a teacher in a Nebraska public school system.
Students with plans to attend college or university in Nebraska, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and those full-time, public school students whose school district is a member of the Nebraska Association of School Boards qualify to apply for the scholarship.

HAGAN SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE MARCH 15
Eligibility Requirements
1. Must attend a high school located in the United States.
2. All high school students eligible regardless of nationality.
3. Must be fluent in the English language.
4. Must be in the high school graduating class.
5. Must have achieved an unweighted 3.50 CGPA based on a 4.0 Grading Scale.
6. Must enroll in an eligible four-year College or University the first fall semester following high school graduation.
7. The scholarship cannot be used to attend a community college, junior college, or online institution.
8. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule, or complete the equivalent of a four year degree if in a professional program.
9. Must work 240 hours from January 1, 2025 until September 1, 2025. Work must be regularly scheduled employment performed under supervision for compensation. Employment can be full-time or part-time.
10. Applicant’s Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2023 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $100,000. “Household Income” is defined as the total income received by all adult members of a household living under the same roof.
11. Applicants are not required to provide FAFSA information. Finalists must provide the FAFSA Summary showing the SAI.
12. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible.
The intended scholarship recipient is a high-achieving goal-driven student having substantial financial need.

NEBRASKA SOCIETY OF MAYFLOWER DESCENDANTS BURT AND BECKY WHEDON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE MARCH 15
One scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior intending to attend a 4 year college. The amount of the scholarship is $1620. Applications will not be accepted after March 15, 2025.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and reside in Nebraska.
- Applicant must be a high school senior planning to attend an accredited 4 year college or university.

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN CIAC TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE MARCH 15
University of Nebraska-Lincoln CIAC Tradition of Excellence Scholarship this scholarship is for students who meet the admission requirements and be accepted to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction. Intend to declare a major in Construction Management or Construction Engineering. Have a 2.5 GPA. You must also demonstrate involvement in community or school organizations, clubs, or teams.
AIRMAN MEMORIAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE MARCH 15
The AMF conducts scholarship programs to financially assist the undergraduate studies of eligible dependents of military personnel. AMF/CMSAF/AFSA scholarships are valued from $1,000 to $5,000 to students age 23 or younger attending an accredited academic institution.
Eligibility
- Unmarried child/adopted or stepchild of active duty, retired or veteran member of USAF, ANG or AFRC. No Officer dependents!
- Must be age 23 years or younger and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher

SHELL SCHOLARSHIPS - DEADLINE MARCH 15
The Shell Technical Scholarship and Shell Incentive Fund Scholarship have been created to provide financial and career assistance to graduating high school seniors who have expressed an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated an aptitude in mathematics and science.
In each program, Shell will sponsor up to 20 one-year awards of $2,500 for selected graduating high school seniors enrolling in engineering or geosciences at universities identified by Shell.
These scholarship programs support Shell’s objective of helping to ensure a qualified workforce in engineering and geosciences disciplines in future years. Workforce development is one of the highest priorities at Shell. Competition for talent is growing and Shell will be at the forefront in identifying young people with the skills to succeed by assisting with scholarships and providing exposure to career opportunities at the company.

The purpose of the Leslie A. and Helen R. Wilson Memorial Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to residents of Webster County (Nebraska) who plan to enroll in a two- or four-year course of study in an agricultural or secondary education pursuit. Applicants must be a resident of Webster County and have attended a local high school, on schedule to graduate in the upper one-third the high school class, and an active participant in his or her church and community.

E-WASTE SCHOLARSHIP - DEADLINE APRIL 30
Each year there are 20 to 50 million tons of e-waste discarded in the world. E-waste contains toxic materials, including heavy metals, that can easily seep into the ground and ultimately get into groundwater supplies. According to the EPA, recycling e-waste allows more than 100 million pounds of materials to be reused annually. The purpose of this scholarship is to help you understand the impact of e-waste and what can be done to reduce e-waste.
Who may apply: You must be a high school freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior or a current or entering college or graduate school student of any level. Home schooled students are also eligible. There is no age limit. You must also be a U.S. citizen or legal resident. Deadline: April 30, 2025 to coincide with Earth Day

Who Can Apply?
Eligible students for the Acker Warren Fresh Start Scholarship meet the following requirements:
- You participate in a youth mentorship program of some sort, including Big Brothers Big Sisters or similar organizations

EDUCATIONQUEST FREE SCHOLARSHIP RESOURCE
WHAT IS THE NEBRASKA PROMISE?
The Nebraska Promise program covers undergraduate tuition at the University of Nebraska's four campuses (UNK, UNL, UNMC and UNO) and its two-year technical college (NCTA).
Tuition is covered for students who meet academic qualifications and have a family income of $65,000 or less (Adjusted Gross Income/AGI) or are Pell Grant-eligible. For more information and to apply visit HERE.
MIDWEST STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
MSEP offers a discounted tuition rate with an average annual tuition savings of $7,000. The program is volunteer based with eight states and over 70 institutions in the Midwest choosing to participate. UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA LINCOLN FIRST RESPONDER PLEDGE
The First Responder Pledge demonstrates the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s commitment to law enforcement officers, firefighters, firefighter-paramedics, and their dependents who are completing their undergraduate degrees by waiving a portion of tuition costs. The Nebraska First Responders Pledge waives in-state tuition for Nebraska first responders and their dependent children, after scholarships and grants are awarded.

NEBRASKA METHODIST SCHOLARSHIPS
Nebraska Methodist College assists students by providing the following types of scholarships:
- Upfront Merit Scholarships — based solely on previous academic performance.
- Academic and Leadership Scholarships — based on academic performance, leadership potential demonstrated by participation in activities outside the academic setting and service to the community (separate application required).
- Membership Scholarships — based on church, club or honor association membership, or relation to an NMC alumnus

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS
Access NWU Scholarship Program for Pell-eligible Students
The Access NWU Scholarship Program will fully fund tuition through federal, state and NWU merit-based and need-based aid for first-time, first-year students who qualify for the federal Pell Grant. SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Southeast Community College, Walter Scott Jr. Career Pathway Scholarship
This scholarship is for students enrolling in a career pathway of study in construction, manufacturing, or transportation. Students must have a 2.0 GPA and plan to live on the Milford campus.

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-KEARNEY SCHOLARSHIPS
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Scholarships
UNL Supplemental Scholarship Application: To maximize your consideration for departmental scholarships as well as leadership and service scholarships, we encourage you to submit the Supplemental Scholarship Application, which opens October 1 in MyRED for admitted students.
These scholarships are awarded based on a holistic review, meaning academic performance is only one of many aspects of consideration. Nebraska also reviews your resume of activities and open-ended responses within your supplemental Scholarship Application. The deadline for admitted first-year students to submit the supplemental Scholarship Application is February 1, 2025. Once you have submitted your application, you can return and update your information at any time prior to the deadline.
University of Nebraska-Omaha Scholarships
UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-OMAHA ALUMNI ASSOICATION & LEE DENKER SCHOLARSHIP
The UNO Alumni Association awards $2,500/year scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership and involvement during high school. In 2022, an additional scholarship was added in honor of Lee Denker, UNO Alumni Association Executive Director from 2006–2021. The scholarship may be renewed for up to four years total. To be considered, applicants must complete an online application and meet the following criteria:
• Graduating high school senior
• Minimum ACT composite score of 24
• Either rank in the top 25 percent of their class or have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
