Principal's note
Dear St. Therese Families,
Thank you for joining us, bringing good questions, and sharing your feedback at Back-to-School Night. It was a great evening, and we have to thank the St. Therese Parents Club for hosting the potluck social to begin the evening. This is a link to the slideshow that was presented at the beginning of the night, by Father Gabriele, Mrs. Baumbach, and myself. I've added some of the additional notes to each slide that we wanted to mention, but may have glossed over in the interest of time.
We are so grateful to those parents and family members who have expressed interest in volunteering at St. Therese, and we do indeed need your help with upcoming events. Here are the important details: you must complete a background check, which you can initiate through Mrs. Barnett in the school office. You also must take a class on child safety called CASE. The first CASE training is this coming Monday, September 23rd, at 5:30 pm. If you cannot attend next week, there will be one more Tuesday, October 1st at 6:00 PM. The background check and the CASE training are both free of charge. If you plan to attend, we would appreciate it if you could let us know in advance, however it's not required. The CASE training takes approximately 1 hour.
Today, we are exactly 2 weeks away from the St. Therese Jog-A-Thon! We're off to a good start but we can't stop now! The Jog-A-Thon is our primary fundraising event for the school. The dollars that come in from tuition simply do not meet our demands. We are 100% transparent with the money raised and the way that it is allocated. This year, the proceeds of the Jog-A-Thon go right back to your students, literally, in the form of updated curriculum and textbooks. As parents, this should be a great incentive to help your kiddos get out there and get those donations. Contact family and friends who support Catholic education. Proceeds from the Jog-A-Thon support the education of 200 children who look to The St. Therese Community, for their spiritual and academic growth.
To incentivize our students,
If we hit our school-wide goal of $50,000:
- K-5 students will get a super fun ice cream social which will be in lieu of an afternoon class!
- Middle school students will have an afternoon dance, during the school day with treats!
Help us help the kids! We are depending on you to help us raise the bar on the resources. Go Eagles!

Miscellaneous Reminders
- Thank you to everyone who attended Back-to-School Night this week. Thank you to Parents Club for hosting the potluck beforehand. It was a great success! Just a reminder to reach out to teachers if you have any questions or concerns. All communications with teachers and staff are to be conducted in a manner that maintains respect and are carried out in a manner that promotes Christian charity, and vice versa. Our teachers do need some down time to be with their families too. If you email after 4 pm, they will do their best to reply to that email within 24 hours, but we want them to go home and have dinner with their families too. Thank you for understanding.
- Our Lost and Found is already overflowing. Gentle reminder that periodically, we have to sort through the sweatshirts, water bottles, and various other items that parents spend good money on, and we donate them to charity.
- Every Third Sunday of the month is an opportunity for someone from the school to serve our community, by serving coffee and donuts after the 10 am Sunday mass. Please contact the school office if you would like to volunteer for future months. 503-253-9400. It's an easy task, fun for the family, and counts as Fair Share Hours.
- Please pull all the way forward at Drop-Off in the morning so that we can keep that line moving quickly and prevent back-up.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
