First Semester High School Final Exam Schedule
Dear Parents and Students,
As you know, the first-semester final exams are just around the corner. As we wrap up the first semester, we want to remind you that we consider final exams at SkyView to be an important assessment and an essential opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning. Each high school teacher is required to administer a meaningful final exam (or equivalent class project). In some instances, students may be exempt from the final exam i.e. they demonstrated mastery of the content and standards at a 95% or above. These exams are comprehensive and will constitute approximately 10-15% of the student’s semester grade.
To that end, we want to remind you of the following:
Finals will run for four days from Tuesday, 12/17/24 to Friday, 12/20/24. Each day, students will take final exams in the morning and then be granted release in the afternoon according to the following schedule:
Tuesday, December 17th-Green Day
8:00-9:45, 1st Period Final Exam
9:50-11:35, 2nd Period Final Exam
Wednesday, December 18th-Blue Day
8:00-9:45, 3rd Period Final Exam
9:50-11:35, 4th Period Final Exam
Thursday, December 19th-Gold Day
8:00-9:45, 5th Period Final Exam
9:50-11:35, 6th Period Final Exam
Friday, December 20th-White Day
8:00-9:45, 7th Period Final Exam
9:50-11:35, Make-Up Exam Period
Attendance for Finals
Policy Change: All students, regardless of exemption status, are required to attend finals due to state seat-minute requirements.
Exemptions: Students with a 95% or higher in a class may be exempt from the final at the teacher's discretion.
Exempt and Not Attending: Students exempt from a final who choose not to attend that period must notify the attendance office here to report their absence and use a personal day.
Study Hall
Attendance is not required for study hall during finals. However, parents must report absences via the new attendance form to excuse their student.
Drivers Leaving Early
Students with a driver’s license may leave campus after completing their final if they do not return for the day.
If staying on campus, students cannot leave until the end of the final period.
Missed or Absent for a Final Exam
Students who miss a final must provide a doctor's note for the absence to be excused and to qualify for a makeup exam.
Absences without a valid medical excuse will result in a zero for the final exam.
Dismissal Times
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: Dismissal at 11:35 a.m.
Friday: Dismissal at 9:45 a.m.
Teacher Study Sessions: Students may remain on campus in the afternoon only if they have pre-arranged appointments with teachers or if a teacher has scheduled a study session. Students should not show up unannounced to stay in a classroom.

Show Drive to Support DI Globals
Have you outgrown your shoes? Getting new shoes for Christmas? This January, the SkyView community is invited to clean out their closets for a shoe drive to raise funds for SkyView Destination Imagination (DI) Teams heading to Global Finals in May 2025! Donations of gently worn, used, and new pairs of shoes (no single shoes) will be accepted. Adult sizes, kid sizes, men’s and women’s styles, cleats, sandals, fancy or plain shoes! (Just no rollerblades or ice skates.)
All donated shoes will be redistributed to micro-enterprise partners through Funds2Orgs, a for profit social enterprise used in developing nations for impoverished people to start their own businesses.
The amount of money raised is determined by the total weight of the shoes collected. All funds will help SkyView Destination Imagination Teams compete at Global Finals in May! Donation boxes will be set up in the SVA Lobbies starting in January.

SkyView Senior Makes All-State Soccer Team
Congratulations to Brayden Short for making the All-State Soccer Team for the second consecutive year!
High School Poms
The HS Poms team participated in the 2024 State Championship this past Saturday! The Poms had an AMAZING routine, which resulted in finishing 3rd out of 12 total qualified teams. This is truly an amazing accomplishment, especially after combining the classifications of 2A and 3A. If classifications were not combined, then we would have won state for the third time in a row, as we were the top-ranked 2A school. Congratulations, ladies; we are all very proud of your hard work! The next and final competition is Nationals at Disney World, which will be from January 31st to February 2nd at Walt Disney World! Again, amazing job, ladies; we are all extremely proud of you!

Middle School Basketball
Middle School Basketball: The Middle School A team Boys Basketball squad had an electrifying end to the season, racking up four wins in five games! On 12/3, they defeated Aspen View behind Josiah Paul's stellar 9-point performance. The momentum carried over to 12/4 as Zane Shahid lit up the scoreboard with 13 points in a victory over Ben Franklin. Despite a hard-fought loss to CHC on 12/5, the team roared back on 12/11, with Nathan Quintana stealing the show, dropping a season-high 22 points in a triumph over Platte River. Eli Volpe capped off the week in style, netting 15 points on 12/12 in a commanding win against Aspen View. This momentum has carried the A team into the end-season tournament as the fifth seed as they travel to Leman Academy this Monday(12/16). Good luck, boys! Meanwhile, the B team fought valiantly but came up short in all five games while showing grit and determination. The B team finished the season as the sixth seed and will look to travel to Ben Franklin this Monday(12/16) as well in hopes of moving onto the semi-finals.

High School Boys Basketball/Girls Basketball
HS Boys Basketball: The Boys' Basketball program started its season on the road against Windsor Charter. The C team and JV boys programs won very exciting and close games! The C team received a brilliant performance from Sophomore Chris Bieller Jr., who was a perfect point guard; he finished with 8 points and a handful of assists. The JV team won an incredible game by one after Sophomore Andrew Eschmann hit the go-ahead 3 with 45 seconds left in the game to go up by 1 point. That shot ended up being the game-winner! It was a complete game for every player, but the outcome could have been different without that shot from Andrew Eschmann. Unfortunately, the Varsity team lost 70-86 despite Markus Lloyd's 27-point performance.
The JV and Varsity program headed to Platte Canyon last Saturday(12/7), in which both JV and Varsity teams won! The JV team won by almost 50 points, and it was a complete team effort. The game's highlight was Junior Ethan Gilbert hitting a pull-up 3 for his first points of the season, it was an awesome moment! The Varsity team, powered by Senior Mark Chisenhall's 11-point performance off the bench, added a huge offensively spark. All three levels then hosted their first home game against Platte Valley this past Tuesday. The JV team got off to a great start and never looked back, winning by almost 20 points. Sophomore Bronson Kiraly was everywhere, as he was grabbing every rebound and scoring at will from inside. It was a great game! The Varsity team won in a defensive shootout 45-33, powered by Senior Reagan Lewis' game-high 15 points and Junior Clay Cosart's massive 9 points off the bench. Unfortunately, the C team lost in a close game. The JV and C team gets a break; their next game will be on January 8th. However, the Varsity team has a tournament at Denver Christian this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday starting this Thursday at 5:30 pm against Peyton HS. Best of luck to our Varsity Basketball Boys!
HS Girls Basketball: The HS Girls' Basketball program began Tuesday(12/3) with home games against Windsor Charter, in which the JV team won! The JV team played a strong first game in which Sophomore Carly Nettler was the offense's focal point. She was simply having her way with the defense. The Varsity team unfortunately lost. However, the Varsity rebounded on Saturday(12/7) against Platte Canyon as they won 42-31 behind Senior Lydia Slocum's 16 points and 8 rebounds! Both teams then unfortunately lost at home this past Tuesday against Platte Valley. The Varsity girls begin their Denver Christian tournament this Thursday at noon against Colorado Spring Christian. They will also play Friday and Saturday at Denver Christian, with times and opponents to be determined. Good luck, ladies!
High School Cross Country
Varsity cross country runners Seniors Mitch Hixson, Aarjav Shah, and Sophomore Rylan Griffith showcased their talent at the Nike NXR Southwest Regional in Phoenix, AZ, competing against elite athletes across the region. All three delivered outstanding performances, achieving personal records as Mitch clocked 16:33, Rylan ran 16:38, and Aarjav finished in 18:27. This is an amazing opportunity for these three boys, and we are very proud of your accomplishments at this amazing event!
