Special Thanks
Mr. Rouleau has been a beacon of leadership at Green Meadow. His vision and guidance have shaped our educational programs, fostering an environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential. Under his leadership, our school has navigated COVID, transformed our literacy instruction, and secured a new school building in collaboration with town leaders. His influence will be felt for years to come.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Rouleau has been more than just a principal; he has been a cornerstone of the Green Meadow community. He has fostered a sense of belonging and collaboration among students, parents, and staff. His open-door policy and approachable nature have made him a trusted and respected figure in our community.
Mr. Rouleau’s genuine care for each student’s success and well-being is evident in all he does. He has always taken the time to listen, support, and encourage, making every student feel valued and understood. His positive influence has helped shape the lives of countless children, instilling in them a love for learning and a sense of confidence.
As Mr. Rouleau steps into retirement, he leaves behind a legacy of excellence, compassion, and commitment. His contributions have made a lasting impact on our school, and his presence will be deeply missed.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Robert Rouleau for his years of service, dedication, and leadership. We wish him all the best in his retirement, confident that he will continue to inspire and make a difference in whatever new adventures he undertakes.
Staffing Updates
Assistant Principal
Katrina (Kate) Murray will joining Karen Lindquist, Green Meadow's new principal, in July. Mrs. Murray is coming to the Maynard Public Schools with 25 years of experience in a variety of educational roles. She is currently the assistant principal at the McKay School in Fitchburg, and previously worked at the South Street Elementary School in the same role. During her time in Fitchburg she has supported students and staff through a redistricting project and a move into a new school building. Prior to working in Fitchburg, Mrs. Murray worked in Acton-Boxborough as the Director of the Extend Day program. During her career she has taught vocational education classes, worked as the Acton-Boxborough community liaison, and served on the Somerville School Committee. Mrs. Murray will start on July 1, 2024. Special Education Team Chair
We want to thank Lora Monachino for all of her hard work and her commitment to family outreach in her role as team chair over the past three years. We wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors.
Katharine Chagnon has accepted the team chair position for the 2024-2025 school year. Katharine brings to Green Meadow 20 years of experience in special education. She most recently has worked in the Wayland Public Schools as a physical therapist, the Early Childhood Coordinator, and the Acting Director of Preschool. Mrs. Chagnon will start in August and her email will be kchagnon@maynard.k12.ma.us.
Music Teacher
Heather Stewart joined our staff in January when Cindy Blanchard retired. We are grateful to her for continuing our music program development this spring. Natalie Wong will be joining us next year. Natalie has been teaching in Connecticut and is looking forward to collaborating with our performing arts department district-wide.
Grade 2 Teacher
Charlotte Jones will be returing to the Grade 2 team next year. Charlotte has been working in the roles of ELA Coach and MTSS teacher for the past three years.
Grade 1 Teacher
Yvonne Hucknall has been a valued member of our staff over the past two years. Yvonne will be moving on to a new role and we welcome Cassie Ramos to the Grade 1. Mrs. Ramos has been teaching Grade 2 at Green Meadow for the past two years.
Curriculum and Assessment Updates
Assessment Reports
Assessment reports went home this week in student backpacks. Parents of students in Grade 1 received MAP Growth Reports for Math and ELA, as well as Earlybird Early Literacy reports. Parents of students in Grade 2 and Grade 3 received MAP Growth Reports for Math and ELA, as mClass DIBELS 8 reports. Kindergarten families received Earlybird Learning reports last week.
Students will take these assessments again in September. Parents will receive updated reports at that time.

Are you curious about how to balance structure and fun this summer? Like most things, summer vacation can feel best when balanced. Striking a balance between structured routines and unstructured play for kids is a key ingredient in the recipe for a meaningful summer. Here’s how you can help! We thank you for sharing your children with us all year and hope you enjoy your time together this summer to rest, play, laugh and explore. We look forward to seeing everyone in September! Maynard Farmers Market
Maynard Farmers Market Opens June 29
On Saturday, June 29 the Maynard Farmers' Market kicks off its 29th season. Hours are 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., rain or shine in the Mill Pond parking lot on Main St (near intersection with Sudbury St) in Maynard where it will run every Saturday until September 28.
Entertain the kids with activities under the Children's Tent 10am-noon. There will be Spin Art on June 29 as well as special visits from Mr Vic on July 13 and Mr Mark on August 17.
Weekly vendors include Applefield Farm (sustainably grown vegetables, herbs & flowers), Balance Rock Farm (grass-fed meats, chicken, eggs & specialty items from other local producers), Cookie Lady Treats (sweet and savory baked goods), FSG Baking (breads, rolls, pretzels & pastries in the German/European tradition), Hudson Hives (10+ honey varieties, lip & body balms, beeswax candles), and Muddy Water Coffee (coffee beans & freshly made coffee drinks). Each week the Market also includes a selection of periodic vendors, two or three artisans, local community group representatives and performances by local musicians at the Interlude Music Tent.

Theatre for Young Audiences
Farmer Brown has a problem: the animals on his farm are cold at night. They
find an old typewriter in the barn and start sending him notes asking for
blankets. When he refuses, they go on strike! Follow along with Duck, Hen
and the Cows as they band together to improve life on the farm.
James E. Grote and George Howe’s cheerful musical adaptation of the
Caldecott Award-winning picture book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin is
appropriate for ages preschool and up.

Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth Resources
MPY ANNOUNCES NEW PARENTING SOLUTIONS LIBRARY
Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth (MPY) is pleased to announce its new, free MPY Parenting Solutions Library. Parents can watch or just listen to experts who get right to the point solving big and small challenges. The 24 library presentations focus on the topics below. Each presentation includes a 10-minute videos and handouts. The Home Parenting Library may easily be accessed using the link on MPY’s home page (www.mpyinc.org). No log in or passcode is needed.
Community Food Pantries
The Open Table Food Pantry (www.opentable.org; 33 Main St, Maynard) is open on Tuesdays, 3:30 - 6:30 PM and Thursdays, 1 - 4:30 PM and offers free bags of groceries 1x/week. Open Table also allows families to pick up frozen meals for family members weekly.
The Maynard Food Pantry (www.maynardfoodpantry.com; 82 Main St., Maynard) is open on Mondays from 10 AM - 12 noon 1-2x/month
