Principal's Message
March 2024
Message from Mrs. Webster
I hope this message finds everyone well and full of joy. March is an exciting time of the year, as spring is just around the corner. Luckly, we enjoyed the some beautiful sunshine before this last bit of rain! We are very grateful for those sunny days.
We have several upcoming events in March. The Harloe Talent Show production is in full swing. Auditions ended on Thursday, April 29. "Comeback Auditions" will be held on March 4. I am so proud of all of our students that gave it their all! Tickets for the show will go on sale on March 18. The show will be on March 28 at the Clark Center. Be sure to get your tickets early. Tickets sell out quickly.
The Harloe PTO is hosting a Family Math Night at Harloe on March 14. Please bring your family and join us for a great time, engaging in activities around math and numbers. See the PTO website for more information.
Spring Break is right around the corner (April 1 - 5). Once we return from Spring Break the rest of the school year seems to fly by. Before we know, students in grades 3 - 6 will be taking the state standardized test, to demonstrate what they have learned. Open House will be held on May 16, which will bring us very close to the end of the school year.
Please continue to ensure that your child/children attend school on a daily basis and arrive on-time and stay for the whole day, as much as possible. We are constantly working on improving attendance!
Have a great weekend and Happy March!
PBIS - Positive Behavior Intervention Support
Harloe is proud to be part of a national program called PBIS - Positive Behavior Intervetnion and Support. We currently have eight staff members on the team. This team meets every other week to discuss, plan and implement strategies that support students in a positive manner. This is the second year Harloe has implemented PBIS! Last year, we were recognized with a Bronze Metal for our work. We continue to improve our practices, with the goal always being on supporting our students with postiive interventions. Below is more information from the PBIS wedbsite.
From the PBIS Website:
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives. We use ‘students’ to refer to all children and youth in any educational or therapeutic setting (e.g., K-12 school, early childhood program, treatment program, juvenile justice program). Learn more about PBIS in schools, classrooms, early childhood programs and juvenile justice programs on those topic pages.
Harloe & Professoinal Learning Community Work
As we move forward with our work as a Professional Learning Community, we will continue to grow as professionals, refine our practices, grow and learn together and work to make Harloe the best it can be. Currently we have revised Harloe's Mission Statement and Value Statement. Our staff is currently working on revising our Values (Collective Commitments) which will help guide our Goals.
Currently Harloe's Mission Statement is posted on our website. Our Vision is finalized and will be added to the website soon. In the meantime, below is Harloe's Vision:
“Our vision is to develop well-rounded, confident and responsible individuals who aspire to achieve their full potential. We will do this by:
Providing a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment for ALL students
Working collaboratively to ensure high levels of learning
Valuing cultural diversity
Promoting community engagement
Celebrating growth and achievement
Cultivating a spirit of resilience and perseverance
This vision drives our commitment to creating a place where students and staff
feel an authentic and equal sense of belonging.”
TUPE Assembly - Drums Perks
Our 4th and 5th graders enjoyed a great assembly from Sean Sullivan. He had a great message about staying healthy and the dangers of tabacco. I have attached a video below for your enjoyment.
Note: I did my best to upload the video for you all to view. If it doesn't work, I will try to add it to the Harloe website.
