The Odyssey

From the Principal
Hello MQSCA Families-
Let me congratulate the 2nd grade students for receiving their First Eucharist on Saturday, May 4th. It's been an honor to work with Fr. Matthew and Sister Vita to prepare them for this special day! Additionally, on May 11th, St. Augustine will be celebrating May Crowning after the 4:00 pm mass. All First Communicants are highly encouraged to attend May Crowning!
This Sunday is the 6th Sunday of Easter, with Pentecost only two weeks away! In the Gospel of John, Jesus reminds us that "As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love."
As Christians, we often say that Jesus forgives us all no matter what, and that's true. However, we must not forget the expectation that Jesus has for us, which is to keep His commandments to remain in His love. So, what are Jesus' commandments? "Love one another as I love you." It all starts with love, loving everyone around us, no matter the circumstances we are placed in.
In Christ-
Mr. Lee

Catholic Corner
Seton Value: Service
Saint of the Week: St. John of Avila
Virtue of the Week: Kindness
Scripture of the Week:
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
Prayer of the Week:
Jesus, my Savior, you teach us that good fruit is produced from a good tree. Likewise, kindness flows not from a heart that is made of stone, but from a new heart that is given to us through your spirit. Lord, teach us to be kind in heart, so that love, grace, and charity flow forth like a river. Give us a generosity that reflects your own, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Safe Enviroment Training
In order to be involved in any school activities, including chaperoning a field trip, coaching a sport, or volunteering in a classroom, you have to be safe environment trained. Below is the link to register for a training. No exceptions will be made, it is an archdiocesan mandate. If you plan to volunteer now, or in the future in any way, you MUST have attended a safe environment training. Please reach out to Simone Gaspar if you have questions about safe environment training, if you need to be trained, or if a new background check needs to be conducted. If you think you have been in safe environment training in the past, but are unsure, please double-check.
