Message from the Principal
Dear Kennedy High School Parents and Community,
What an incredible week for Kennedy Athletics! Our scholar-athletes represented our school with immense pride and honor at the recent CIF competitions. We witnessed outstanding sportsmanship and dedication. A special congratulations to our Girls’ Basketball team, who secured a thrilling victory over Arrowhead Christian (49-18) on Saturday evening and will play at Oxford Academy this Wednesday, 2/19, at 7pm, in the quarterfinals of division 4A. Go Irish!!!
The Kennedy High School choir program has kicked off its competition season with a resounding success at the Brea Olinda High School competition. In their first outing of the year, the students demonstrated their incredible talent and dedication, bringing home a slew of awards. The results are as follows:
Secret Service (Advanced Boys): 1st Place
First Ladies (Advanced Girls): 2nd Place
Executive Order (Advanced Mixed): 2nd Place
Adding to the impressive team achievements, individual singers also shone brightly. Anthony Hernandez and Cameryn Stallings each earned the coveted title of "Best Soloist" in their respective divisions, a truly remarkable accomplishment.
This victory at Brea Olinda marks the beginning of a busy and exciting period for the choir. They will be competing almost every weekend for the next two months. The next competition is just around the corner, taking place this Friday and Saturday. This weekend's event will be hosted by Esperanza High School but held at El Dorado High School. We wish the Kennedy choir continued success in their upcoming competitions!
Building upon the information shared on Friday, I want to reiterate our commitment to student safety. We are aware of social media posts encouraging student walkouts on Tuesday, February 18th. While these demonstrations remain unconfirmed, we are working closely with the La Palma and Anaheim Police Departments to ensure the well-being of all students.
Key Points Regarding Student Safety:
Campus Safety: We strongly encourage students to remain on campus, where they are safest. If students choose to participate in a walkout, school staff will supervise their departure to ensure a safe exit.
Disneyland Concerns: We are particularly concerned about reports that students may gather at Disneyland, where an unrelated protest is already scheduled. This group has previously engaged in activities that escalated into unlawful conduct. APD advises students to choose alternative venues to avoid potential risks.
Classroom Learning: School operations will continue as scheduled. Students are best served by remaining in the classroom, where they can engage in constructive discussions about social issues in a safe, educational setting.
Off-Campus Guidelines: If your student chooses to participate in a walkout, please remind them to:
Remain peaceful and respectful.
Avoid blocking traffic and stay out of the streets.
Consider alternative locations for demonstrations.
Equal Access to Education: Our district remains steadfast in its dedication to ensuring that all students have equal access to education, as outlined in Resolution No. 2024/25-BOT-02, “Providing All Children Equal Access to Education.”
We urge you to discuss these matters with your student and emphasize the importance of prioritizing their safety while expressing their views.
Looking ahead, we have two exciting family engagement events scheduled for Thursday, February 20th. Join us for Coffee with the Principal at Walker Junior High starting at 9:30 AM. Also, please consider attending the LCAP Process Meeting at the AUHSD District Office starting at 6:00 PM. We encourage our Kennedy parents and students to participate in this important process.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to create a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school administration.
Sincerely,
Poppy Hill-Bonales

2024-2025 LCAP Schedule
Our next LCAP meeting will be Thursday, February 20th at 6:00 p.m. at the AUHSD District Office. If you did not attend the last meeting, that's okay! Moving forward, meetings will be held with specific focus groups related to each LCAP goal. Please speak with your FACES, David Hernandez, for more information!
LCAP refers to the Local Control and Accountability Plan or AUHSD's plan to ensure student success. Taking the survey and attending the LCAP meetings helps not only Kennedy, but the district to create a plan to support ALL students; especially those who need extra support. Students, staff, and parents all take this survey, which provides us valuable insight on what we can improve on.
LCAP Survey
Have you taken the 2024-2025 LCAP Survey? The district sent out an email with instructions on how to take and complete the survey.
Everyone has a unique link to take the survey. Please do not share your link as it is an exclusive link just for you. We would love to hear your opinion and understand how we can go from good to great!
