FOR ALL RISING 7TH GRADERS
There are NEW school immunization requirements for students entering the 7th grade this fall. ALL children entering the 7th grade must have received a vaccination known as Tdap as well as a meningococcal meningitis vaccine, (MCV).
Call your healthcare provider to discuss if your child has had these vaccines or schedule an appointment for your child to receive a Tdap and meningococcal vaccination (MCV).
Provide a copy of your child's updated immunization record to the Health Room at your child's school as soon as possible. Your child will not be allowed in school without these vaccinations next fall.
8th Grade End of Year Events
The end of the school year is fast approaching, and we have a lot planned for our 8th grade students in the coming weeks. We also know that the end of the school year can be challenging for students who may be struggling with emotions about leaving their friends. This has resulted in higher numbers of students arriving late to class, looking for ways to avoid work, and showing defiance towards adults in the building. We ask that you support your student in finishing the school year on a strong note. To do this, please be sure to check your child’s attendance and grades on ParentVue regularly. Students who are late to multiple classes or who do not uphold expectations from the MCPS Student Code of Conduct may not be allowed to participate in upcoming 8th grade events.

The Promotion Ceremony is the culminating event for our 8th grade students on June 12 at 10:00. Each student will be allowed to bring a maximum of TWO guests to the ceremony due to space restrictions at Kennedy High School. The event will also be streamed live on our YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.
Students are responsible for arranging transportation to and from the promotion ceremony. We have limited transportation available for students with unique circumstances; please reach out to Ms. Cortney Chao, cortney_e_chao@mcpsmd.org, should you need assistance with this. We will also excuse all students from school in the afternoon of June 12 and Thursday, June 13 to allow time for students and caregivers to celebrate together.

REMIND Attendance Messages
MCPS remains committed to working closely with families to support student attendance. During the fourth quarter, MCPS will pilot attendance messages through the Remind app to help families make every effort to send their child(ren) to school every day. A message will be automatically sent when a student is absent for three, five and 10 days during the quarter. The messages are designed to be informative, culturally competent, empathetic and supportive. This will be for excused and unexcused absences. A student is considered chronically absent if they are absent 10 percent or more of the days they are enrolled. Remember, school staff are always available to help remove any barriers to your children’s attendance.

SchoolCash Online
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Montgomery County Public Schools has transitioned to a online payment system called SchoolCash Online as its preferred method of payment for all school-related fees.
SchoolCash Online helps parents/guardians and community members pay school-related fees safely, quickly, and easily. SchoolCash Online will help increase efficiency and security at schools by making payments directly into schools’ bank accounts and eliminating the need for teachers to handle money. In addition, once registered, you will be immediately informed about school activities!
Powered by KEV Group, SchoolCash Online is the industry leader in the management of school fees. The new system puts all of the school-related fees online for purchase so users can make purchases online using a credit card or e-check. A processing fee will be included on all items available for purchase, regardless of the type of payment used on SchoolCash Online or at the school.
