Note From the Principal
Dear Families,
Mrs. Jimenez and I wish you and yours a beautiful fall season and an October filled with great books, cozy fires, and memories to treasure.
Dress for Weather. Now that fall is upon us, we know that temperatures can swing very quickly. Please make sure that your child comes dressed for conditions. Layering is helpful during this time of year. Also, please make sure to label your child’s coats and sweatshirts. This will help us return lost items to students.
October Character Trait. October’s character trait is Courage: to choose what is good, right, and kind even when it is hard or scary. Following are a few conversation starters to continue the discussion at home.
How do you find the strength to stand up for what is right even when you find yourself standing alone?
Share a time that you showed courage.
How does it feel to practice kindness or gentleness? How does it feel if others are not doing the same? How can you model courageous kindness for others today?
Parent/Teacher Conferences. Thank you for taking the time to partner with your child’s teacher for fall conferences. If you did not have an opportunity to connect with your child's teacher please email or call. They would love to arrange a time to meet with you!
In closing, I want to thank you for your continued support and wish you and your family good health and a wonderfully smooth first quarter.
Soaring with you,
Ms. VanDermark

PTO News
FUN RUN INCENTIVES! PTO is excited to announce that Mrs. Reks received a $25 gift card for having nearly 100% Boosterthon participation; in additional, Mrs. Marshall was the winner of a $50 gift card drawing, out of all the teachers who had more than 50% participation. The awesome Second Grade staff won incentives for a staff lunch, as well as Crumbl cookies. We'd like to thank our staff for their awesome participation and encouragement with our students--we couldn't have reached these goals without them.
PTO provided catered lunch for teachers for this week's conferences; if you would like to defray the cost, please consider donating through PayPal (whiteriverpto@gmail.com). For those of you who took purchased items from our Amazon Wishlist, or provided dollars, thank you so much.
If you or someone you know runs a local restaurant or business, and would be interested in sponsoring a lunch for our staff, please contact us at whiteriverpto@gmail.com.
The box tops program is digital now! What could be easier, just download the app, shop, scan, and earn money for the school!
