SPEECH & DEBATE UPDATE
Three-hundred, twenty-four students from twenty-one schools from California and Nevada attended the Chuck Ballingall Memorial Invitational at Damien HS this past weekend.
In varsity policy debate, the team of sophomore Timothy Liu and freshman James Pan were tournament champions. The sophomore team of Aadi Bhagat and Xavier Burchfield reached the semifinal round (top 4). The teams of sophomores Alex Wilner and Claire Shim and freshmen Nathan Li and Wenxi Jiang reached the quarterfinals (top 8), where they were walked over (a walk-over occurs when students from the same school are paired in elimination rounds, in which case the higher seed advances). The teams of junior Camron Farjami and sophomore Jack Erikson and sophomores Daniel Weiss and Jaden Tarng had winning records but missed advancing to elimination rounds on tiebreakers.
In novice policy debate, the freshmen team of Mason McNatt and Mason Song reached the quarterfinal round. The freshmen teams of Helena Uloomi and Michelle Park and Adam Khaja and Ayan Uppal reached the octafinal round (top 16). Matthew was sixth speaker and Michelle tenth speaker. Freshman Riley Meagher was eighth speaker.
In varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate, junior Dalton Ngo reached the semifinal round. Senior Brian Son and junior Aryan Siravuri reached the quarterfinals. Senior Abigail Imley and sophomore Khushee Totla reached the octafinals (Khushee was walked over). Dalton was fifth speaker and Brian was tenth speaker.
PTSA REFLECTIONS PROGRAM
Calling all artistic Panthers!
The annual PTSA Reflections program is in full swing and we encourage your participation. The deadline for entries is October 24th, 2024.
Each year, the PTA Reflections program offers students a platform to express their unique perspectives and interpretation of a student-created theme. For the 2024-2025 school year, the theme is “Accepting Imperfection,” which serves as a powerful reminder that our flaws and mistakes are just as much a part of us as our strengths and are a natural and beautiful part of being human.
To find more information go to the link below and then click on the PV Peninsula icon and enter. Also, on the entry form, please enter the email address that you’re most likely to check so we can contact you if needed.
