Message from Administration
Dear FSCS#15 Parent/Guardian,
Welcome back to the 2024-2025 School Year! I am honored to once again open the doors of our school to see our children’s beautiful smiles and eagerness to learn new things in the classroom. And I am especially excited to join forces with all the parents/guardians to plan and create experiences for all our children. I would like to extend a special welcome to all the new families joining FSCS#15 for the first time.
I want to express the importance of working together to provide our children with the best educational experiences. We need to keep the lines of communication open. One easy form of communication is through the Parent Portal. I strongly recommend that all parents/guardians download the phone app and get connected. Another way to stay connected is through the Messenger platform. The district and the school will send out important messages to parents/guardians via the phone number provided to the school. Hence, keeping the school informed of phone number changes is critical in keeping abreast of everything that occurs at the school and district. You can also email us regarding any concerns, doubts, or suggestions. The email list can be located on our school’s website. If you prefer to meet in person, you can also do so by calling the main office and setting up an appointment to see the person you desire to speak to. Please make sure to take advantage of all communication avenues we offer.
To start, the school website is full of great information and I urge you to check the website often for news and updates (ps15.paterson.k12.nj.us ).
Sign up for the Parent Portal. This is a live student data platform where you can see assignments and student grades. Join the Parent Teacher Organization and work side by side with the school to offer our children the best learning experiences. I firmly believe that the parents are their child’s first and important teacher. Parents play an important vital role in the education of their children. I happily welcome all parents to take an active role in the education of their children and be active participants in our school life. Get to know the staff, especially the child’s teachers and assist where you can so we can work together in the interest of everyone. I am eager to work with our parent community in supporting our students’ educational journey.
The district has developed a school uniform policy to help create a healthy and safe school environment for all students. By wearing the school uniform, all students will have a sense of equality. No child or parent has to worry about the brand of clothing they must purchase or whether they can afford to purchase the newest trends. Research shows how wearing a uniform helps students feel secure about the way they look because they do not have the pressure to conform to society in terms of their peers and will be able to put their energies into learning and studying. Above all, wearing the school uniform generates a sense of belonging, pride and loyalty towards the school and community.
I am extending a heartfelt welcome to you and asking that you join forces with the school community to create the best learning environment for your child (our children). We can work side by side if you join the PTO, become a classroom parent representative, and or attend our monthly parent workshops. We have so much to offer to you and the children. Our school is fully equipped with a Clinic that will provide medical services, if you are registered. I advise you to register your child in the clinic and take full advantage of all services rendered.
Please stay connected and let’s make the 2024-2025 school year AMAZING!
Sincerely,
Ramona Garcia, Principal

Splashing Into the New School Year!
We were delighted to welcome hundreds of families to our "Summer Splash" open house! It was a fantastic day where families selected bookbags with supplies, purchased uniforms, enrolled in the health clinic, picked up school calendars and absenteeism info, and enjoyed snacks and water activities. This event wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of Full Service Community and St. Paul's Community Development Corporation.
"Behind every great teacher is a little helper with a big heart."
A special shoutout to the amazing children of our teachers who step up to help their moms prepare classrooms for the first day of school. Your hard work, creativity, and love make a huge difference. Thank you for being such a wonderful part of our school community!

Student Attendance
Student absenteeism can lead to low academic achievement, dropping out of school, delinquency and gang involvement. School districts that have established multi-systemic approaches and policies pertaining to student absenteeism typically experience fewer numbers of dropouts and a greater number of graduates.
The compulsory education law (N.J.S.A. 18A:38-28 through 31) requires all children between the ages of 6-16 to attend school. The attendance regulations (N.J.A.C. 6A:16-7.6), require each district board of education to develop, adopt and implement policies and procedures regarding the attendance of students, including the adoption of a definition of "unexcused absence" that counts towards truancy. While the regulations allow for the parent to be referred to municipal court for a truant child, consideration should be made to refer or coordinate with a community-based social and health provider agency, other community resource, or the juvenile/family crisis intervention unit (FCIU). For more information contact the FCIU in your area.
