Westview Course Registration
For Current 9th - 11th Grade Westview Students
It’s time to start selecting courses for the 2024-2025 school year. The Course Request Window will open by grade level according to the dates below. Please make sure to log into your Synergy/StudentVue account to select your courses during your course request window:
Current 11th graders: January 29 - February 1
Current 10th graders: February 3 - 8
Current 9th graders: February 10 - 15
As students in each grade level are selecting courses, we may find that some Electives are reaching a maximum capacity based on class size limitations. These courses will close for registration for the next grade level, and we will add them to an interest list. Students can indicate their interest in taking the class on the Course Interest List if any spots become available.
In an effort to build our CTE pathways, certain courses will be designated for freshman and sophomore students. For example, Honors Principles of Engineering, Introduction to Engineering and Design, and Business Principles & Strategies will be reserved for freshman and sophomore enrollment. Should a Junior or Senior want this course, they should indicate their desire to take the course on the Course Interest List. Here is the link to indicate your interest if space becomes available: Course Interest List
This newsletter has valuable information that will be helpful in the course selection process. Please check out all of our resources below!

In order to become a pathway completer, a student must complete 20 credits in both a concentrator and capstone course OR two capstone courses in the same pathway. Students who achieve CTE Pathway Completion will receive a certificate, a notation on their transcript, and a special diploma seal for each pathway they complete. The following pathways are offered at Westview High School.

Thinking of skipping a level of math or taking a summer math course outside PUSD?
Our recommendation is to not skip a level of math. PUSD does not currently have any approved Integrated Math classes through outside schools or programs that will be accepted for credit. If a student takes something over the summer it will not be on their PUSD transcript. More importantly, if a student signs up for the higher level next year and realizes it was not the correct placement, they are not guaranteed a spot in the previous level, as there may not be space available.
Specific to Integrated Math II: Aside from the mathematical instruction and curriculum reasons against skipping Integrated II, there is a college requirement component, as well. The UC system requires that students take a geometry-based math course as part of their 3-year math sequence. They consider Integrated Math II to be this course in the integrated sequence. We have been advising students against skipping Integrated Math II for this reason in particular. We do not want students to find that when they apply for college that they do not meet the UC requirements because they did not take Integrated II. More information can be found on pages 18 - 19 of the UC Counselor Reference Guide.
Taking a class outside of Westview?
If you are taking a foreign language course outside of Westview, you will need to complete the Application and Authorization Form for Foreign Language Credit PRIOR to beginning the class.
CA State Seal of Biliteracy

Students only apply in the spring of their senior year of high school. For additional questions, please visit the CA State Seal of Biliteracy page on our website or speak with your counselor.
