AHS Tech Update for 9th - 11th Grade Students
We will be collecting your school-issued Chromebook on the last day of school, Thursday, June 6. Please be prepared to turn in your Chromebook and charge cord on that day during your 2nd period class. There was recently a message from district communications that gives tips on summer care of your device. This was an error for Anoka HS students.
Thank you,
AHS Tech Team
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
This week our TV7 news crew showed a feature to highlight the importance of mental health, why it matters and how students may support themselves and others. Anoka HS has 6 Licensed School Counselors to help support student needs. In addition, our school social worker, Mr. Syvock, is available to meet with students. The TV 7 news feature reminded students how to schedule appointments with their counselor or Mr. Syvock and listed additional mental health resources including:
- Call 911 if you or someone else is in immediate, physical danger.
- For Anoka County Mobile Crisis Response Service, call 763-755-3801. The call is free. Available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
- Text HOME to 741741 to be connected with a counselor who will help defuse the crisis and connect the texter to local resources. Available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
- National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 988 Available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Your mental health matters and it's always ok to ask for help! Please reach out if needed!
Anoka High School Counselors set regular hours to expand service this summer
Providing the academic planning students and families need often goes beyond the school year. Counselors are continuing an option to fill that gap with regular office hours two days a week over the summer months.
A counselor will be available for walk-in service or appointments to assist students from 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting June 17 and continuing through August 14. The week of June 17-21, counselors will be available on Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18. Service will not be available the weeks of June 24 through July 5 over the holiday.
The expanded hours aim to provide a consistent time for customer service to students and families. To see when your counselor will be available, check this calendar.
2024-25 Anoka Hennepin Online Classes Application
* NOTE: Anoka-Hennepin will not have a full-time online option in 2024-25. Here is a list of Approved Online Learning Providers in the state of Minnesota if you are seeking full-time online programming.
In order to take classes through Anoka-Hennepin Online, students must be enrolled in one of the main Anoka-Hennepin High Schools (Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Champlin Park, or Coon Rapids) and taking at least two credit-bearing classes in-person (no study halls/TA's/OA's). Please complete the 2024-25 Anoka Hennepin Online Classes Application if interested in taking any online classes.
Enrollment is based on courses offered and space available. Once the online program receives your request, a Parent Acknowledgement form will be sent out to be completed by a parent and returned before registering for classes. When the form is returned, online counselors (Ms. Hankins or Ms. Zemple) will look at the student's current schedule and attendance before enrolling into online classes. Please note: the form will go to the parent's email listed in Synergy and may take up to a week to send. This form MUST be filled out by a parent or guardian.
