Welcome back to a new school year at Otto Petersen Elementary School! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer. We are excited to welcome our 4th-6th grade students back and are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and a strong sense of community.

Theme for the Year: Belonging

At Otto Petersen, we are focusing on the theme of Belonging this school year. We believe that fostering a sense of belonging is crucial to our students' success and well-being. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels valued, included, and connected within our school community. Throughout the year, we will engage in activities and initiatives designed to emphasize the importance of belonging, kindness, and collaboration.

What to Expect This Year

We have an exciting year planned for our 4th-6th graders, with a variety of engaging academic programs, extracurricular activities, and community events. Here are a few things to look forward to:

• Picture Day: October 10th, 2024

• Walk +Roll to School Day: October 9th - We start in the BiMart Parking and end up at our campus

• Monthly Recognition Assemblies: We would like to invite parents to attend our monthly recognition assemblies this year! Each month we focus on a different character trait through our Character Strong curriculum. These assemblies are a way for us to celebrate the hard work that our students do in learning how to utilize these traits in the school setting. You will also get to see our kids compete against our teachers in some hilarious games. Please watch this newsletter for times and dates.

We also encourage parents and guardians to get involved in our school community. Whether through volunteering, attending events, or joining our parent-teacher organization, your participation is invaluable in supporting your child's education and strengthening our school community.

Open communication between home and school is essential for the success of our students. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns. We will provide regular updates through newsletters, and important information will be available on our school website and social media channels.

• Back-to-School Night: Thursday, August 29th 5:30PM-7:30PM

• Parent-Teacher Conferences: November 7th & 8th
