Reporting Religious Absences
Did you know? Families can select “Religious Holiday” as an option for a child’s absence in ParentVue, when applicable. This notation could be helpful to our school staff so they can plan accordingly for your student’s absence.
Student Names in the 2024-2025 Yearbook
If a parent or guardian has requested a preferred first name for their student, that will be the first name printed in the yearbook. If a student or guardian has questions about the student’s name as it reflects in our student information system, they can log into Student or Parent Vue, navigate to “Student Info” on the left menu and then review the student’s preferred name listed. If a student does not show a preferred name, then their first name will appear.
Examples:
Ex1: Katherine Bonnema - logs into Parent Vue and it reflects preferred name: Katie. This student would show as “Katie Bonnema” in the yearbook
Ex2: Bryan Brutto - logs into Parent Vue and sees nothing in the section for preferred name. This student would be shown as “Bryan Brutto” in the yearbook.
Updates to student’s preferred name must be emailed directly to our registrar, Terri Chee at thchee@bluevalleyk12.org by December 1st. Any questions can be directed to our yearbook advisor, Mrs. Sinclair-King at csinclairking@bluevalleyk12.org.

Civility Policy
We are thankful for the ongoing partnership and support we experience in our school community. Working together we ensure the best possible student experience allowing them to realize personal success. There are times, however, when issues arise which require our continued collaboration to resolve. Families may utilize the matrix linked on the district website to best address questions and concerns that may arise throughout the course of a school year. Finally, all staff and visitors should conduct their business free from intimidation, harassment, or bullying. The district’s Board of Education states expectations regarding civility within Policy 6341. Again, thank you for your partnership in helping to maintain a safe school community environment for all.
Attendance Matters Article #3: Maximize Learning by Planning Ahead
We know that medical appointments are sometimes unavoidable, but whenever possible, it’s important to schedule them outside of school hours. High school classes move quickly, and missing even a portion of the day can mean falling behind on lessons and group projects. Each absence takes away from valuable learning time that is difficult to make up.
