4-H Project Spotlight
Child and Family Development
Discover how to be self-reliant and responsible, handle emergencies and develop home-alone skills. Learn about home safety, age-appropriate toys, nutritious snacks for children and how to create a poem, story or game.
What can you do?
In the child and family development project, you can:
Create a toy, game or puzzle using recycled materials.
Develop a program for youth with differing abilities.
Put together a babysitting kit.
Job shadow a child care provider or another youth worker.
These are just some of the many ways you can participate in this project.

June Recap
Programming has started!
What a busy month of programming! 14 different programs took place during June! This included 48 youth! From bettering ones skills when babysitting to learning how to sew and create a beautiful quilt, a lot of youth have gained many skills over this past month. Clover Adventures learned all about popcorn - from the history to different types of popcorn!

Are you interested in being a Renville County 4-H Ambassador? Join the Ambassadors for their next meeting on July 11 at 6:00 PM at the Renville County Government Center!

Congratulations Mara S. and Jackson S. on participating in the 2024 Performing Arts night!

Livestock Quality Assurance Training
13 Youth from Renville and surrounding Counties completed their Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics training on June 6!
They learned about proper injections, reading feed labels, nutrition, antibiotics, food safety and much more!
Remember, if you have completed 6th grade or above, and plan to exhibit your animal at State Fair, you need to complete a form of LQA&E Training. There is an option for a 3 hour in person training (good for 3 years) or a 1 hour online training (good for 1 year). Check the link below for all in-person LQA trainings.

Regional Camp - Morris
10 youth from Renville County went to Morris for the Regional Camp from June 25- June 27. They enjoyed making greenhouses, cooking food and a lot of outdoor activities!

County Fair 101
June 27, new and experienced families joined other 4-H families, Livestock Superintendents, and Renville County Fair board members to learn all about the ins and outs of the Renville County Fair!

Ambassadors - July 11 - 6:00 PM
The Ambassadors will be meeting at the Renville County Government Center July 11 at 6:00 PM in rooms 116/117.
Leaders Council Meeting - July 11 - 7:00 PM
Renville County Leaders Council will meet on Thursday, July 11 at 7:00 PM. Join us to take an initial review of our budget, talk about the county fair, and much more!

Fair Entry Deadline - July 15
Livestock & Superintendent Meeting - July 18
Join the Superintendents on July 18 for our last Livestock meeting before the fair! We will discuss numbers, shows, show arena and much more!
We will also work on setting the Show Arena up - so bring your muscles!
We will meet in the Show Arena (old tractor barn) at Fairgrounds at 6:00 PM.
The meeting will start at 7:00 PM.

Food Stand Shift Lead Training - July 22
NEW this year! We will be offering a food stand shift lead training!
When: July 22 - 5:30 PM
Where: Renville County Government Center - room 116/117
This is for all of those who will be the "Shift Lead" during the 4-H Food Stand shifts. You will receive training on "Cooking for a Crowd", preparing all foods that are offered in the food stand, walkthrough the Food Stand Handbook and so much more!
This training is open to all - but is strongly recommended if you will be a shift lead. If this time does not work for you, please let Ashle know.
Supper will be provided.

Champion Showmanship Chair work day - July 24
Do you have a cricuit, or enjoy working on projects? Join Ashle and Traci on July 24 in the Renville County Government Center, rooms 116/117. We will be starting the day at 10:00 AM and have the rooms booked for the rest of the day. Come for a few hours or come for the whole day-your help will be appreciated!
Needs:
- Cricuits
- Weeders
- heatpresses (hand held ones will work better)
- flour sack towels
- trasfer paper
- Cricuit sticky boards
- Most importantly: people to help!
Show Arena Committee Meeting - July 24
This will be our last meeting before County fair!
Members of the Fair board and Ag Country will be there!
Help us plan what the new show arena may look like!
Livestock Fair grounds set up - July 25
Join Livestock families and the Renville County Fair board on July 25 at 6:00 PM to set up the Livestock Barns and our new show arena!
4-H Pre-Fair Clean Up
Help get the 4-H Building and Food Stand ready for the County Fair! Bring your brooms, cleaning tools and muscles!

Fundraising Opportunity
Willmar Stingers Baseball Game night
We have a quick fundraising opportunity thanks to Arnolds of Willmar and the Willmar Stingers baseball team. We have tickets available for purchase at $20.00. These also come with a food voucher.
The game is against the Minnesota Mud Puppies. First pitch is at 6:35 PM.
If you are interested in selling tickets or are interested in purchasing them for yourself, please let the Extension office know!

Members from Cairo Sharpshooters had a wonderful time promoting 4-H in the Fairfax Dayz of Thunder Parade!
Congratulations to Madalyn L. who was selected as Miss Fairfax; Maddy N., Lydia N., and Annika N. for being selected as Renville County Dairy Princesses!
Danube Full-O-Pep
This past month, club members shared their knowledge on rabbits, general demonstration, saddle fitting and circuit boards.
Trailblazers
Trailblazers made the best out of the rain and had a blast with games during Island Days!
Notes from the Educator
Happy July! With summer being almost half over, this means that county fair is much closer!
There are a lot of things happening in July to help prepare for County Fair. Please be sure to sign up for Food Stand and Malt stand shifts. We are also still looking for help for general project entry day and help during all of the livestock shows.
FairEntry deadline is Monday, July 15. Please have all of your potential projects entered into FairEntry. If they are not entered, those projects will not be eligible for grand or reserve champion and State Fair. Please visit the link posted above to enter today!
If you plan to bring any oversized exhibits, please let the extension office know by August 1.
If you need any special accommodations or modifications for county fair, please let the Extension office know by August 1.
Those who are hoping to take a livestock trip this year need to have their Livestock Quality Assurance and Ethics training completed by August 1 in order to claim a trip.
We have two Day Camps this month - Clover Adventures for youth who have completed grades K-3 and Super Sitters 2 for those who have completed 6th grade.
There will be a special edition Clover Update with all of the information in it for county fair. This will be coming out end of July.
The fair board has also requested help during fair clean up nights. These are held every Thursday, starting at 6:30 PM.
