Congratulations to Kelly Anderson –The Birch Elementary School 2025 Impact on Education Award Winner!
We are thrilled to announce that Kelly Anderson, our incredible Literacy Interventionist at Birch Elementary, has been honored with the prestigious 2025 Impact on Education Award!
Kelly has dedicated herself to supporting students from Kindergarten through 5th-grade in their journey to become confident, capable readers. Her innovative use of a variety of intervention strategies has made a profound difference in the lives of so many students.
Before stepping into her current role, Kelly was a beloved 3rd-grade classroom teacher, and her passion for teaching continues to shine through her work every day. Known for her radiant smile and unwavering positivity, Kelly truly embodies what it means to be a beacon of encouragement and support in our school community.
Congratulations, Kelly, on this well-deserved recognition! We are so grateful for your dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference. Keep shining! Attend a BVSD parent presentation on Digital Media and Screen Time: “The Balancing Act: Screen Time, Mental Health, & Academic Performance”
BVSD, in partnership with the Parent Engagement Network and the Digital Media Treatment & Education Center, invites families to a presentation exploring the effects of digital media and screen time on children's mental health and development. Experts Tracy Markle and Dr. Brett Kennedy will provide insights into how smart devices, social media, and video gaming influence brain development, self-esteem, academic performance, and emotional well-being.
Presentations catered by grade level are offered at various school locations across the district from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Elementary presentations offered Thursdays March 13, April 17 and April 24.
Middle school presentations offered Wednesdays April 2, April 23 and May 2.
High school presentations offered Wednesdays March 12, April 9 and April 30.

CMAS TESTING
Dear Parents,
WE would like to kindly remind you that CMAS testing is an important event for our students. To ensure that all students can participate, please avoid scheduling any doctor's appointments during the testing window from April 7th to April 17th.

EARTH MYSTERIES & HISTORIES
We are hosting the second annual “Earth Mysteries and Histories” geoscience education and public outreach event on Saturday, April 26th, 2025.

Visitors of all ages, from kids to retirees, are welcome. This family-friendly event will have interactive hands-on stations staffed by knowledgeable and enthusiastic scientists in CU Boulder’s Department of Geological Sciences and the CU Museum of Natural History. Join us to learn more about oceans, groundwater, fossils, earthquakes, volcanoes, and more!
The event will be open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and visitors are welcome to drop by at any time and stay for as long or as little as they desire. It will take place at the Biotechnology Building on the CU Boulder East Campus. The address is 3425 Colorado Avenue, Boulder, CO 80303.
A NOTE FROM OUR HEALTH OFFICE:
Our office is currently in need of tennis shoes in sizes 2, 3, 4, and 5 for all genders, as well as socks in those sizes. If you have any gently used tennis shoes that are looking for a new home, please consider dropping them off at the front office.
