Year 11 GCSE Revision Breakfast Clubs
Maths
The Maths department are running a series of breakfast clubs each morning of the GCSE Maths exam.
We are encouraging Year 11 students to drop in at any time to make sure they are prepared for exam (equipment/calculator etc). Any questions or topics they have been stuck on can be worked on.
These will be in N32 and a member of the Maths team will be there from 7.45am to welcome them.

The remaining revision session will run on Thursday 6th June from 7.45am in N3. Please feel free to drop in with any last minute questions. Staff will be present to share top tips and key reminders.

Festival of Choirs
CVHS are performing at The Great Waltham Festival of Choirs on Friday 7th June 2024. All are welcome.
Summer Review
Parents and friends of students are warmly welcome to attend our Summer Review , which is an exhibition of students' work, including Art, Graphics and Photography alongside Music and Drama performances to celebrate the amazing effort and outcomes achieved throughout the year. Please join us for a soft drink or glass of wine on Thursday 27th June 2024 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm in the Eastman building.
Year 10 Work Experience
Well done to all our Year 10 students. We have heard such amazing feedback from employers. We look forward to hearing more about their adventures after half term. If any parents and students would like to share some photographs from their placements then please send them to ashea@chelmer.essex.sch.uk and they will be featured in the next careers newsletter.

Student Drop In
Tracey Byrne, our student mentor, is holding drop ins for any student who would like a chat about anything that may be worrying them.
She will be in O12 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (from 8.15am until 8.30am) and again at lunchtime from around 12.30pm.
Pre-Loved Uniform Shop
We are looking for any good quality second hand uniform for our pre-loved uniform shop. If you have any items you are willing to donate, please send them into the main school office.
To assist parents when buying new uniform items, we have sample sizes of all the uniform items that are sold online with our uniform suppliers, Price & Buckland. If you would like to try some uniform sizes with your child, please arrange an appointment with the main office.
Pre-Loved PE Kits
Any Year 11 student who no longer wishes to keep their school PE kit please can they donate it to the PE department. All kit welcome. Please bring to the PE office.

What's Been Happening This Week in Tutor Time?
This week in tutor time our students in Years 7– 10 have been focused on Mental Health to link to Mental Health Awareness Week and have continued to look at the 5 Ways to Wellbeing related to the elements of keep learning, give and connect.

Year 10 – Are we all worth the same?
Year 11 have been continuing to use the revision strategies they have learnt previously to revise for their exams.

The assemblies this week have been on a range of themes specific to the different year groups, covering cooperation and teamwork, mental health awareness and the Year 11s have had their leavers assembly celebrating their journey through the school.

MERCHANDISE: Please make sure you are putting in your order for show t-shirts and hoodies. You have been sent an In Touch about how to do this. There will also other merchandise such as key rings and cups going on sale after half term too so look out for this!
TECHNICAL STUDENTS: Please come along on Tuesday after school if you are interested in any aspect of technical. If you do not attend or do not speak to Mr Gold, we will assume you no longer wish to be involved. Thank you to those who have been attending as per the rehearsal schedule.

Year 11 Art Students
Please collect your art pack materials except your portfolio folder from O3 - any items left by half term will be recycled.
Sports Day - Thursday 6th June
Sports Day is on Thursday 6th June.
Field events for Years 7, 8 & 9 will take place during Periods 1-3. Year 10 field events will take place during Period 5 on Wednesday 5th June.
During Periods 4 & 5 on 6th June, the whole school will be able to watch the track events.
All students are encouraged to participate. Please see the headteacher's parent update for more information.
PE Extra Curricular Clubs - Summer Term
PE Fixtures - w/c Monday 3rd June
Please Note:
- Fixtures are subject to change.
- Students must check the team sheets on the notice boards in PE to check team and confirm timings.
Unfortunately we are no longer able to have parents come into school to watch their children in sporting fixtures. We appreciate this is very disappointing for both students and parents, however, we must adhere to the stringent safeguarding guidance given to us. We apologise for any inconvenience.
National Fish & Chip Day
Thursday 6th June is National Fish & Chip Day. To celebrate this, the canteen will be serving a traditional Fish & Chip lunch.

Library Notice
Library Lates
The Library will remain open for all Year 11 students to study until 5.00pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The Library remains open from 3.00pm to 4.00pm for all other year groups who wish to use it.
Year 10 English GCSE Clinic
After half term the English department will run an English Clinic for Year 10 students every Thursday after school from 3.15pm to 4.15pm in N3.
If you have an English problem or you are finding an aspect of the course challenging there will be a member of the team on hand to help you with your needs.
Year 10 Maths GCSE Revision Sessions
After half term Maths will be running revision session for Year 10 on Wednesdays after school in N3. They enable access and help with online resources. All Year 10 students are welcome, from 3pm to 4pm. Any person causing disruption or those not working will be sent away.
Maths Clinic
Sixth Form students are still running a Maths Clinic every break time in N33.
If you are in Years 7, 8, 9 or 10 and are stuck on your homework or a question, please come and see them, they will be glad to help. A member of staff will be present to supervise.
Scientific Calculators & Other Maths Stationery
A scientific calculator is a necessary item of equipment for school. They are Casio FX83 and are approved for all exams are available on Wisepay for you to purchase for your child. They are priced at £9.50 which is a saving on most on-line sources.
Loaded pencil cases and other items of stationery are available from the Maths office at very reasonable prices!

GCSE & KS3 Science Revision Guides, Workbooks and Cards
Science revision resources are available to purchase via Wisepay for GCSE and KS3 students. Once purchased please bring a printout of the receipt to Mrs Wade in the Science office between 8.30am and 1.30pm, Monday to Thursday.
