We are excited to welcome students to Goshen Junior High School for a new school year in just a couple of weeks! We look forward to a great year of learning, growth, and fun for our GJH Redhawks.

School starts on Friday, August 5, at 9:00 a.m. (see below for more details on our daily schedule).

It is hard to believe that summer is coming to a close, but we hope you enjoy these last couple of weeks!

For the 2022-2023 school year, our school day will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:50 p.m.

Goshen schools will not have a late start day as we have in the past, so GJH students will start at 9:00 daily. The school doors will open at 8:00 a.m. daily. Students who arrive early to school will need to wait in the lobby until they are released to go to the cafeteria or their lockers.

We will be using a hybrid schedule this year. Students will go to all of their classes for about 45 minutes each on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. On Thursdays and Fridays, we will run a block schedule, with students attending their even-numbered classes on Thursdays and odd-numbered classes on Fridays. Classes on these block days will be approximately 90 mintues each.

Students will receive a schedule with specific class times during the first days of school.

GJH still has open teacher positions to fill for the upcoming school year. If you have a Bachelor's degree and are interested in pursuing a teaching career or a long -term sub position, please contact GJH administrators Jan Baker or Lisa Herschberger.

GCS no longer qualifies for free meals for all students this school year. However, many families will still qualify for free or reduced meal prices.

The safety of our students and staff is always a top priority. With this in mind, we will continue our past safety practices, and we are also adding a few procedures.

1. Outside doors will be locked during the school day, with the exception of the main entrance into the Welcome Center.

2. Parents and visitors will check in through the window in the welcome center.

3. The main door into the welcome center will be unlocked at 8:00 a.m. each day. Students dropped off before the 9:00 start time will enter through the Welcome Center.

4. Classroom doors will remain locked throughout the school day.

5. Bus riders will be dismissed at 3:40. Walkers and car riders will be dismissed at 3:50.

6. Cars picking up students should not enter the front parking lot until the buses have left the lot. Parents can expect car riders to be out front for pick up at 4:00.

As always, if you have concerns or questions about the safety of students at GJH, please contact us so we can address these.

Parents are asked to provide the folloing for their students for this school year:

• backpack or bag
• notebooks
• folders
• pens & pencils
• earbuds (not bluetooth)
• reusable water bottle
• gym shoes (if student is taking Physical Education)
• Tissue boxes for homeroom teacher
