Dorr Families,
As we head out this afternoon on the long anticipated Spring Break, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for sharing your children with us. It is this time of year that we start to see all of the time, teaching, and care that we put into each student really start to blossom. We start to notice tremendous growth in our students. It is a refreshing reminder that with the support of our parents and community, students succeed and thrive at Dorr Elementary.
We hope that you take this time to relax and recharge. Stop to enjoy the little moments, and make memories that will last a lifetime!
Upon our return, students will begin their spring testing. All students will take the NWEA test. Our 3rd grade students will also be taking the MSTEP test. Encourage your student to get a restful night sleep and eat a well balanced breakfast each morning.
We are almost to that home stretch point in the year, but we still have a lot of learning and a lot of fun to have. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and check the bi weekly newsletter upcoming events calendar so you don't miss a moment of the fun!
Educationally Yours,
Mrs. Seniura
Want To Volunteer?
As we welcome parents in for various volunteer opportunities as well as class field trips, I'd like to take this time to remind you to make sure that you have a CURRENT background check on file. Safety is our number one priority. Any one who visits the school must have a background check on file. Background checks are only valid 1 year from the date of submittal. If you are unsure if your background check is still valid, reach out to your classroom teacher or contact the office. If you need to fill out a background check, please click the button below.
Ms Johnson's Journal
Dear Dorr Families,
At Dorr Elementary, we are focusing on Perseverance for the month of April! Perseverance means sticking with a task, even when it’s tough. Whether mastering a new skill, solving a difficult problem, or handling challenges with friends, perseverance builds resilience and confidence.
Through PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), we reinforce perseverance by recognizing students who keep trying, problem-solve, and learn from mistakes while following our school-wide expectations:
🔹 Be Respectful – Encourage and support others.
🔹 Be Responsible – Set goals and keep working toward them.
🔹 Be Safe – Use positive coping strategies when frustrated.
Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) also plays a key role in perseverance. Affirmations, social contracts, and the "Four Questions" encourage students to push through challenges with a growth mindset. By fostering strong relationships, CKH helps students feel safe to take risks and keep trying.
This month, staff will recognize students demonstrating perseverance with PBIS shout-outs and CKH affirmations. Families can support this at home by celebrating small successes and reminding children that mistakes are part of learning!
Let’s keep pushing forward together!
March Student Of The Month - Courage
Distinguished Artist - Peyton Reurink
Dorr Elementary has a Distinguished Artist Program in which student
artwork is on display like an art gallery for the school year. Each year 9
students are chosen as a Distinguished Artist. The distinguished artist is a
student who is responsible in art, shows their creativity and works hard
on all projects. Ms. Corcoran chooses 3 to 4 pieces of artwork in which
the students followed directions and completed the project adding their
creativity. A committee of staff members then votes on the projects to choose the winner.
Congratulations Peyton Reurink!

Born's Buzz
Dorr Elementary participates in a program called Peer to Peer. Students, with different backgrounds and circumstances, come together to engage in shared activities where ALL students learn together. Our 2nd and 3rd graders who follow our 3 B's (Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe) are chosen by our Dorr team to participate in this program. I oversee the program with the help of our Level 2 Special Education teacher, Mrs. Onken!
Each month, Mrs. Onken and I will be showcasing three PEERs that have been excelling in their work as a PEER at Dorr Elementary. For the month of April, our PEERs are.....
Ruby Engseth, Emersyn Geers, and Camdyn Jelinski!!!
Ruby Engseth comes into Mrs. Onken's classroom to participate in lessons with the student. She models active listening and appropriate participation in lessons. The other students in the classroom enjoy her company and look to her for modeling.
Emersyn Geers comes into Mrs. Onken's classroom to participate in lessons with the students. When she comes into the classroom, she is willing to help another student if they are struggling with the lesson. She works with many students and enjoys her time!
Camdyn Jelinksi goes outside with our little Young 5's. His job is to model appropriate play and use of playground equipment. The littles LOVE having an older boy outside with them. He's like a celebrity in their eyes!

Young 5's and Level 2 Classes Welcome Special Visitors
Our Young 5's and Level 2 classes welcomed 2 very special guests to their class recently. Officer Borns and Officer Kotarak from the Wyoming Police Department came to teach students all about their job as police officers, and some important safety tips. They also brought a real police cruiser and let all our "special deputies" sit in the drivers seat! Thank you for sharing part of your day with us!
3rd Grade Spring Music Performance
Our 3rd graders treated families to a wonderful spring music concert. They all did a spectacular job! Thank you to Mr. Truswell for putting together another amazing show!
Artistic Style
In Art, students have been learning about Eric Carle's process of using painted paper to create his artwork. Students did collages in his style. It is so fun to learn all the different ways to create art!
