A Note From Dr. Hooton
Duello Family,
Each new month brings opportunities for us to come together as a school family to build strong relationships. We are looking forward to Parent Teacher Conferences that are held at the end of the month. Teachers will share information on how your child is progressing in all subject areas. Please be on the lookout for more information from your child’s teacher.
We are looking forward to celebrating the end of our Duello Dash Fundraiser with a Duello Dash Assembly! We are so thankful for our PTA cabinet, Duello families, and staff for making this such an amazing event! We are also looking forward to our PTA Trunk or Treat that will be held on October 20! Please visit our PTA website for all the details of all the fun events!
Thank you for helping us make Duello a great place for students to learn, grow, and lead together. We look forward to seeing you at our various events throughout this month!

Amy Corona, Nurse
Amy Corona is a rockstar with her dedication to the health & well-being of our students. She is truly remarkable! She is always there, ready to calm a nervous child, bandage a scraped knee, or provide comforting words to those who may be feeling unwell. Her kindness & compassion shine through in everything she does - making a world of difference to the students and their families. Not only does she take care of the physical needs of our Mustangs, but she also plays a vital role in educating them about hygiene, nutrition, & the importance of overall wellness. Her positive influence extends beyond the clinic walls - she helps shape our Mustang's habits for life! She consistently ensures that everyone feels safe and cared for. Thank you, Amy, for all you dedicate to our school, the endless patience you show, and for being a constant source of comfort & support! We are so lucky to have you at Duello! We love you!
Ann Marie, Tech
Ann Marie is truly life saver! I don't know what we would do without her! She has helped so much as we transition to Mac Books. I can't imagine how hard it must be, but she is always happy to help and never leaves a problem unsolved. Even if that means staying late on a FRIDAY! Thank you, Ann Marie, for all that you do to help us at Duello!
Mrs. Roth, 5th Grade Teacher
Nicole did an amazing job as our 5th grade camp director. She has worked for months planning and coordinating every detail in order for our 5th graders to have this amazing learning experience. Many people don’t realize the amount of behind the scenes work this event takes and how much goes into planning for these 2 days. Nicole works tirelessly and her family even jumps in to help and lend a hand. Our camp team can’t thank her enough for a job well done and a wonderful 2 days of camp!! Everyone had a great time!
Mrs. Fine, 3-5 counselor
Jacki has been very helpful in supporting teachers and ensuring that students' needs are being met. She has also been great at communicating with parents and ensuring that they know their children are well loved at school.
Ms. Gillam, OT/PT
Payton goes above & beyond for her students. When a new student got an iPad to trial for communication, she created a grid for the iPad so it could be more functional for him. She is always willing to jump in & assist when needed, whether it has to do with fine motor skills, sensory needs, or everyday citizenship & life skills!

Late Start Information
The WSD will be providing supervision for K-5 students who need to be dropped off at the regular start time on scheduled Late Start Days this school year. This is separate from our Before Care Program through Chautauqua.
WSD Parents: to register your student, visit https://wsdr4.revtrak.net/ and select your student's Elementary School, followed by clicking "Late Start Registration" and completing the form for your student. Please register each student attending separately.
The fee is $10.36 (which includes a transaction fee) per child for each late start day you would like to register for.

General Information
Morning/Afternoon Schedule
- Doors open at 8:05 a.m.
- Breakfast from 8:05 a.m.-8:20 a.m.
- Dismissal begins at 3:15 p.m.
Lunch/Recess/Specials Schedule
Reporting Absences
Regular school attendance is critical to your child’s success at school. In the event that your child should need to be absent from school, please notify the office at (636) 327-6050 and press 1 to report that absence. Please leave your name, your child’s name, and grade, the teacher's name, and the reason for absence. You may also email attendance changes to attendance.duello@wsdr4.org
Arrival and Dismissal
This is an important reminder of the drop-off and pick-up procedures that we will enforce for the safety and efficiency of the students and parents at Duello. Staff supervision and student drop-off begin at 8:05 a.m. If you arrive early, please wait with your child(ren) until 8:05 a.m. to assure that they are supervised. Parents should not drop students off in the parking lot in order to avoid the drop-off line.
Walkers- Walkers are defined as students who walk or ride their bike home. These students will be dismissed and will either travel home alone or meet their parent/guardian. The parking lot is not a designated crosswalk and is extremely dangerous for students to walk through unattended. Please do not bypass the carline for convenience and put your child and others in danger.
Car Riders- Car Riders are defined as students who will have parents/guardians who will utilize our car rider line to drive through and pick their child up. This is the most efficient way if a parent is coming to pick their child up. The line might look long but it moves quickly.
Car Rider Drop Off- Now that we are a month into school, we wanted to share and remind parents that if you are dropping off in the car rider line in the morning and your child needs assistance getting out of the car, please put your flashers on and a staff member will help assist getting your child out of the car.
A smooth and efficient procedure takes all of us working together. I appreciate and expect all parents to follow the outlined procedures.

Applications for free & reduced priced meals are available here or at any school office. In an effort to assist families as we transition back to paid meals, the USDA has increased the income guidelines used to determine eligibility. Click here to see the new guidelines.
