Dear Families,
The shortened week following the eclipse, has been full of industry. We continue to absorb experiencing the eclipse on many levels.
Megan Sutton will be out through vacation on a study tour to Greece as part of a course, “The Examined Life”, which is designed to bring the history, legacy, culture, and people of Greece alive for teachers, so that they may do the same for their students. A variety of topics will be explored - time periods, and discrete works of literature to understand the world of the ancient Greeks, and how their legacy affects our own. Megan’s earlier attempt to take part in the course was disrupted by COVID. We’re looking forward to weaving her learning into future units. Meanwhile, back at Weybridge, Linda Smith is filling in!
No Tag Sale this year - FOWE is taking a year off - way too many things on everyone’s platter to pull it off.
VTCAP -4th grade has completed their testing. 5th grade is nearing completion as well. 3rd graders have gotten a good start, but we’ll be testing through next week. I have revised the schedule with the intention that they will all be done before vacation. Students will move through the sessions at their own pace.
Parents of 3rd grade students, please let me know asap if your child will be out of school next week for travel or appointments.

Weybridge Illness Alert and Guidance for Families and Staff
We are seeing a variety of illnesses circulating this spring. At Weybridge School we are seeing cases of strep throat, fevers, impetigo, stomach aches, and pink eye with a particular increase recently in Strep throat. Symptoms of strep throat include
Fever
Pain when swallowing
Sore throat that starts quickly
White patches or streaks of pus on the tonsils
Red spots on the roof of the mouth
Swollen lymph nodes in the front of the neck
We have also seen stomach aches related to strep as well as headaches.
In order to keep infection down at school, we would appreciate keeping your student home to rest when ill and talking to your child about good handwashing.
We expect students and staff to stay home with any potentially contagious illnesses or symptoms including the following:
Vomiting/diarrhea-must be 24 hours symptom free before returning to school
Fever 100.4 or greater
Eye infection, eyes are red and oozing a yellow or green discharge
Any infection requiring an antibiotic-keep your student home until they have been on antibiotics for 24 hours
Persistent cough that disrupts normal activity and ability to learn
Unexplained rash
Influenza-stay home until fever free without medication for 24 hours
Any other symptoms or illness that impedes a student’s ability to learn or staff’s ability to work.
You may return once feeling well enough to be at school and fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.
Please reach out with any questions you may have.
