Noon Message to Families
August 12, 2024
Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year!
Cedar Hill ISD Families & Community,
Cedar Hill ISD’s 2024-2025 academic school year is the horizon to the future of the district.
- By 2026, five of our campuses will have magnet programs, starting with Waterford Oaks Elementary (Technology Academy) and Plummer Elementary (Biomedical Sciences Academy) next year.
- Permenter Middle School will have a Biomedical Sciences Academy, starting in 2026-2027, and Highlands Elementary will begin a World Language Academy in 2026-2027.
- Bessie Coleman Middle School will be the home of the Fine Arts Program, where High Pointe Elementary Fine Arts scholars can matriculate.
We are working diligently to build these new programs, none of which would have been possible without the passage of our CHISD Bond in May. Last fall, the voters of Cedar Hill passed a Voter Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) by a nearly 2-to-1 margin. That ensured that each of our campuses has a CHISD Police Officer. Keeping our campuses safe and secure is a top priority, and we are grateful to the citizens for making it happen.
Returning to school is often bittersweet. The summer is enjoyable, but fleeting. The butterflies and nerves are present, especially for our new Longhorns. Our friendly and helpful staff are here to make it a smooth transition for our students, with plenty of encouragement, information and insight for you.
I look forward to seeing all of the first day of school photos, please post them all online and use #CHISDDay1
Sincerely,
Dr. Gerald B. Hudson
Superintendent
Cedar Hill ISD
