Jr. & Sr. High Update
February 28, 2025
Tomorrow is March?!. It is so crazy that we are entering in our final 3 months together. Spring sports are right around the corner, seniors are preparing for graduation, & prom plans are being made. With spring in the air, that also means state testing will be occurring for our 7th - 11th graders. Please see the information below about specific testing dates. For these dates it is important that students are well rested and in school as this helps with getting tests made up for those that were absent. I encourage you to have a discussion with your student - encourage them to do their best. Reminders about testing dates will be sent out again as we get closer.
There is also information about course registrations for the upcoming 2025-26 school year as well as a senior update from Ms. Esselman that has a listing of important upcoming dates.
Please see the newsletter for important reminders and upcoming events. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Go Panthers!

State Testing
Every spring, students in grades 7 - 11 across Wisconsin participate in the required state assessments. We are writing to inform you of the assessments that are taken for each grade level, as well as the dates we plan to administer the assessments. Each parent will receive a written summary of how their child performed on the assessments so that you are able to learn how your child is progressing. As a district, we use the information to help determine areas of strengths and needs regarding our students' achievement, curriculum, and instruction.
The following assessments will be administered on the following date(s):
Wisconsin Forward Exam:
- April 15th
- Grade 10: Social Studies
Pre-ACT:
- April 8th
- Grades 9 & 10: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science and Writing
ACT Plus Writing:
- April 8th
- 11th Grade: English, Mathematics, Reading Science, and Writing
Wisconsin Forward Exam:
- Week of April 7th, 14th and 21st (dates/times of testing will be established by grade level)
- Grades 7: English Language Arts and Mathematics
- Grades 8: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies
Please see link for more information regarding testing.
Testing Schedule
On April 8th, all Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen will be taking the ACT and PreACT test. In order to make this testing occur for staffing and room allocation, there will be no school for 7th, 8th and 12th grade students.
Upon completion of the ACT, Juniors will be allowed to leave campus with a signed permission form. All Freshmen and Sophomores will have grade level team building activities in the afternoon and will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m. Bussing will be on the normal schedule and as well as lunch.
It is extremely important for all students who are testing to attend school so that they do not miss any schooling for retakes. Thank you for your help in making this a priority and reinforcing the importance of working hard and giving their best effort on these tests.

Registration Update
Over the past 2 weeks our 8th - 11th grade students started the process of registering for classes for the 2025-26 school year. In homeroom, students were given a copy of their transcript and a listing of all classes that they are able to take in their respective grade level. Students then entered these requests into their PowerSchool portal.
This week, 9th - 11th grade students will be coming home with a copy of their course selections as well as the copy of their unofficial transcript and course listing. We are asking all students to have a discussion with parents about their course selections as well as what path they would like to take after school. It is important for students to plan for all 4 years. PowerSchool is still open so students are able to log in to make changes.
After discussion and any changes noted, we ask that the student return the course selection sheet with a parent or guardian signature. All forms should be returned by Wednesday, March 5th so we can continue on with the registration process. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to either Mrs. Wiese or Ms. Esselman.
Below you will find helpful information and resources regarding registration.

FFA Updates!
National FFA Proficiency Awards - By Caleb Schwahn
It’s been a lot of work, but it’s been amazing to see how much we’ve grown through this process. Now that our applications are submitted, they’ll be judged in the coming weeks. I’m really hopeful that both Clare and I will have the chance to walk across the stage in Madison this June. It’s an exciting time for us and for Reedsville FFA, and I’m grateful to have this opportunity to showcase everything we’ve worked so hard on!
Career Development Events (CDE) - By Monica Behnke
In January, our FFA chapter had a busy and productive month. Sophie Ubersox, Audrey Vander Linden, and I traveled to West De Pere to take part in the Leadership Development Events (LDEs). Preparing for the event took a lot of hard work, but Sophie and I spent plenty of time practicing our discussion topics, with valuable support from our fellow officers and our advisor, Ms. Van Pay. Although it was challenging, after lots of practice, we started to feel more confident. Audrey spent her time memorizing the FFA Creed for her competition. This marked the first time in many years that Reedsville has participated in LDEs, with Audrey competing in Creed Speaking and Sophie and I in the Discussion Meet. Although none of us advanced to sectionals, we had a fantastic time and are already excited to compete again next year and bring more members too.
Agriscience Fair Project - By Monica Behnke
Elise Pautz and I have started an agriscience project in the classroom. This is the first time that our chapter has ever done and competed in the area of an agriscience fair project. We currently have a hydroponic, aquaponic and a traditional soil system. We are conducting this project by growing lettuce and peppers. We are experimenting between the different grow systems by planting lettuce and peppers. Our hypothesis is that the aquaponic system will do the best out of all three systems.
