It’s a wrap for fall sports:
Cross Country
Corbett’s 2024 Cross Country season was a resounding success. Our team was led by captains Flynn Parrish and Thatcher Peterson as well as seniors Natalie Matias, Logan Auble, Matthew Caulfield, Caiden McHenry and Bryce Plummer, each of whom embodied our XC values of Passion, Purpose and Perseverance.
Some of the highlights of this season include:
• Our athletes earned 79 Season or Personal Records.
• Among the Coastal Range League teams, Vivienne Duvall, Elaia Pastor and Claire Turner all placed within the top 14 runners at our district championship.
• Four of our current runners, Logan Matias, Vivienne Duvall, Zevi Gross and Elaia Pastor, rank in the top 10 all-time Corbett runners for whom we have records.
From the mud pit and river crossings of Ultimook to the never-ending hills of Catlin Gable to our 2nd Annual Corbett Zombie Relay, our athletes have grown as people and as athletes.
Women’s Soccer
Women’s soccer had a tough season in a very tough district but battled and got better every time they took the field. They showed a lot of grit and perseverance as they pushed through the season and got closer as a team. They had an exciting 3-2 over Portland Christian on October 10th–Well done, Women’s Soccer!
Men’s Soccer
Men’s Soccer finished 8-6 overall and came close to earning a district playoff spot amongst some incredibly tough competition. Our Cardinals made their opponents earn their wins by always giving their all on the field. Congratulations on a great season, Men’s Soccer!
Football
Our Cardinals finished the season 4-5 and came up with an exciting win for their last home game on senior night against Neah-Kah-Nie. Our new head coach, Coach Phillips, is pleased with the growth he saw and excited about the future of Corbett Football!
Volleyball
Our volleyball team had an outstanding season! Our Cardinals finished 24-5 overall, and 12-0 in the Coastal Range League, beating all of their opponents in league 3 sets to.
Our Coastal Range League Champs headed to Coos Bay for the 3A final 8 state championship tournament. They defeated #3 Santiam Christian in the quarterfinals in an exciting 3 sets to 1 match. Two tough losses to #1 Valley Catholic and #2 Pleasant Hill resulted in a 5th place in state trophy for our Cardinals- something I know that they, their coaches, and their community are very proud of.

Thank you all for your welcome to me and the support of our team. I know our athletes can be challenging, so thank you for working with us in getting our academic work in and helping us develop character. We've made some good strides this season but still have work to do in this regard. We will keep working in the off-season, and I encourage you to contact me with any issues with our players.
We finished 4-5, with a shot at the playoffs in our last game, but we lost. Despite this, it was still a great season and a lot for us to build on in the future.
I wanted to share our list of all-league performers. Congratulations to these athletes on their season and accomplishments!
Turner Van Hee - second team DB
Miguel Arzeta - second team OL

Music
Hello Corbett, it is almost time for our annual Holiday Concert. We will be performing music reflecting many of the celebrations that occur during the holiday season and throughout the year. This performance will feature our beginning groups from CAPS as well as the beginning and 6th grade groups from our Grade School. The evening will also feature a special performance by the Corbett Wind Ensemble and we will end the evening with a "toast" to the new year! Please join us for a metaphorical cup o' good cheer.
This will be Mr. L's final performance in Corbett. Please attend, and show your support for the incredible work that Mr. L and these young musicians have done this year.

That’s A Wrap!
The Corbett Performing Arts Club performed their final show of Clue to a record breaking, packed house on Saturday, November 23rd. Three months of preparation by the cast and crew (adult volunteers, too) paid off in a run of 7 awe inspiring shows over two weekends. The second weekend included many repeat-attendees who chose to return for an encore!
Who Dunnit?
The star-studded cast included seniors Logan Auble, Natalie Matias, and Emily Miller.
Paige Capitano delivered an unparalleled performance as Wadsworth the Butler. The hilarity on stage was nonstop by castmates Judah Ray, Madi Doyle, Simone Doumerc, Rosemary Macy, Adam Auble, and Izzy Ray. Emma Auble, Scarlet Boggs, Moss Byers, Quincy McIntire, Ian White, Lucy June Pierce, Tucker Miller, Elora Lyon, Olivia Stoffer, and Orin Patrick supported the shenanigans.
The theater tech magic was executed by Elora Lyon, Orin Patrick, Mattox Simpson, Holden White, Colton Moon, Chase Wright, William Macy, Lucy June Pierce, Oren Gelbrich, Mead LaFramboise, Lucca Lyon, and Teagan Pederson. Couldn’t have done it without our tech wizards.
The “Evidence” is in the Benefits of Theater.
Consider the commitment: rehearsals for months, lengthy performances, the cast and crew spend more time at the “theater” (or in our case, the MPB) than at home! But the lights of CPAC never fully turn off again for them, for they are now “theater people!” Consider the mad theater skills: public speaking, sound engineering, set construction, and collaborative teamwork. Most importantly, they have built relationships across grade levels and peer groups. Sophomore Paige Capitano says, “Not only have I loved performing with CPAC, but it has also created my community and chosen family.”
Curtain Call!
It’s a wrap on Clue, but this season for CPAC is only at Intermission! Auditions will be held in mid-December for the Spring Musical! Stay tuned for details, coming soon to an MPB near you!

Staff Spotlight
Neoma Ramseyer ("Mrs. R")
Interviewed by Michelle Carter Smith
Secondary Life Skills Special Ed Teacher
*Teaches necessary skills to students who have academic, social, and communication needs
Neoma came to Corbett High School in 2024 after teaching Special Education for nine years in the Estacada School District and four years in the Reynolds School District. She graduated from Clackamas High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and a Master's in Education from Portland State University.
Both she and her husband have lived in Oregon their entire lives and in the same East Gresham home for the last 22 years! Their son is 19, graduated from Gresham High School, and now attends Mt. Hood Community College. Their daughter is 20, just got married, and is attending BYU in Rexburg, Idaho. They have three grown Labrador Retrievers in their household, and they are all related, each from a different generation!
Neoma loves Corbett and has for many years, as she and her family have driven through and hiked in the Gorge numerous times over the years. One of the first dates she went on with her husband was to Crown Point, and he later proposed during a hike to Latourell Falls. Their daughter and husband got engaged at Angel's Rest. Neoma says she has enjoyed many parks in the Gorge, splashed under numerous waterfalls, and scrambled over log jams at Oneonta. She said she loves her drives into Corbett for work because it is always so peaceful and beautiful.
When she is not working, Neoma loves genealogy and has learned a great deal about her and her husband's family over the years. One interesting family history detail is that her husband's name, Ramseyer, is common in Germany, and hails from a village in Alsace-Lorraine, an area near the border of Germany and France. In documenting their travels to the United States, some ancestors in the same village have claimed to be from France and some from Germany, only because the borders between the two countries have shifted over the years! Her mom was a single mom who was a school teacher and she still lives locally. Another hobby Neoma picked up from her mom is sewing. At age 10 she began sewing blankets and clothing and still does today. One of her specialty items? A skirt made out of neckties!
Neoma is happy to be teaching in Corbett and is excited to get to know her students and the staff even better in the days ahead. In the photo, Neoma is standing under the Corbett cardinal that her daughter painted on the classroom wall for her and her students to enjoy.

Bingo Night Provides Scholarships
The Corbett Education Foundation thanks everyone who participated in this year’s Family Fun Bingo Night scholarship fundraiser. From the volunteers who helped with set-up and clean-up, to the students who sold tickets throughout the evening, to the vendors who provided prizes, to the patrons who attended the event, the money raised for scholarships is a result of many businesses, individuals, and groups coming together to help Corbett graduates. This year’s event will provide several scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!
We continue to earn scholarship funds through the Fred Meyer Community Rewards program. At no cost to you, Fred Meyer will provide funds to CEF based on the amount you spend at any of their stores. Just add Corbett Education Foundation to your Fred Meyer card/profile on their website. Your holiday shopping is a seamless way to support Corbett graduates through this program. Best part is, you don’t pay any additional fees. Just shop as you normally do and CEF benefits.
